stayed at this hostel march 19th-22nd and cud not fault it me and 2 friends had a private 3 bed dorm in the house of flying daggers room and thats on the top floor and even tho the stairs are dreadfull it just added humour to the trip lol,, we paid 80 euros each for 3 night and personally wudda paid more the beds was comfy the rooms was clean and although the bathroom was tiny i wasnt panning on spendin much time in there anyway lol, we didnt try the breakfast because we was never up early enuf to go down but didnt wanna get up early lol,, the hostel is the best place ever in the red light district not far from anywhre was about a 15 min walk from central station,, at night it got interesting as opposite the girls was in the windows till about 5am but its wasnt noisy to a extent it annoyed us and was quiet nice to sit in the window and watch the world pass us by on a evening,, i would recommend this hostel a thousand times over we always hot water and the heating was on wen we turned it on which was ideal cus we wud leave it on when we went out so its was warm wen we returned,, we didnt use the personal lockers and never had anything missin we just didnt leave our stuff lying around cus then ur askin for it to go then,, iv paid more for worse hotel in turkey and spain so i wud highly recommend this hostel and it will provide u with the best base to investigate amsterdams finest sights and coffee shops are everywhere even one opposite,, x

We paid for 40e / one person / one night. It was a room of six people. There was no warm water and the heating was off half of the time. The guy in the Reception had lots of excuses but he didn't actually do anything to correct the problem with water. It was really unbelievable.

So if you like cold water and only bread in the breakfast. And you want pay your a*s of for that, I could say you could try this hotel. Otherwise, STAY FAR AWAY.

PS. They offered us a compensation for not having warm water or heating after we demanded that for many times. How much they offered? 1,5 euros / person / night ! Really unbelievable.

This place is nothing to write home about or anything, but if you literally want be in the middle of the Red Light District, this is the place. You look out the window, and all you see are red lights. But just remember, if you can see out, people can see in. I felt a little bit like I was on display when the curtains were open during the day. But overall, the rooms were decent, bathroom facilities were clean, and wifi worked in my room.

6 of us stayed here on the 10th of march.everything was great until my friend realised she hadn't picked her iPod and docking station up out the safe in our room.we went back to collect it.and the staff (cleaners)said they haven't seen it.there was no one allocated to that room so we knew it was down to the staff. In a way we was a bit daft not to check before we left but it was just forgotten about.but I think it should of been returned to us when we came back for it.

We, two persons, stayed in Heart Of Amsterdam Apartment for 15 nights, we both loved it. It is a three floor apartment with lot of space and light and a small garden. It starts one floor above an Italian restaurant, first floor is a capacious living room and open kitchen (well equipped) with large dinning table, bathroom and outdoor garden, second floor is amazing with an open capacious bathroom (not like tiny bathrooms in most of Amsterdam hotels),formed of toilet closet, shower cabin with massage facility, a large double sink and washing machine, the bedroom is in second floor and is wide enough with a stairs going up to the attic. The place is very comfortable in a quite small street between two canals. The location is ideal, very close to Dam and Damrack, very nice restaurants are within walking distance, a supermarket is nearby, shopping streets are close, most of attractions and museums are reachable either by foot or tram. We both highly recommend this apartment and we love to stay their again in our next trip to Amsterdam.

Whilst the overall standard of the room was acceptable for the price apart from a faulty shower, we had an issue with security. After checking out we realised we had left our iPod and docking station in the room. We returned Immediately to pick it back up. The room had been cleaned but no other guests had arrived. The iPod and docking station had been stolen. The staff where very unhelpful and unsympathetic to the situation. Given the room had been left locked and only the staff had re entered its pretty obvious it was taken by somebody working within the hotel. Very disappointed with the lack of interest from the management. The items can't possibly have disappeared. If it was my establishment I would want to get to the bottom of the situation. We certainly got the impression it wasn't the first time as they didn't seem in the least bit shocked or surprised.

I stayed here for a week in late July 2012, and let my say that it was a treat. The TV and free WiFi kept me occupied (so much so that I forgot to go to the Van Gogh museum!), and there were power sockets at every bunk. Those bunks were so comfortable I slept for 12+ hours every night I was there! Loved the art on the walls as well - I was in the room with a large mural of Gollum looking at me :)

Bad points: steep stairs and no lift (didn't bother me, might bother some people), no guest kitchen and mediocre expensive breakfast (I never ate there). Also, if people are so paramount about safety these days, then why do they charge extra for the in-room luggage lockers?

All in all, though, I'd defo stay here again if I was by myself.
