Amsterdam was our first stop during our honeymoon. We decided to visit several cities, and of all the B&B's, apartments, and hotels we stayed in, Sunhead of 1617 was by far the best. You can't get the warmth, character, and hands on experience in any normal hotel. During the rest of our trip, my husband and I couldn't help but look back at our stay in Amsterdam and compare it to the rest. It was really an incomparable experience.
First of all, the location was amazing. So near to the Central station but so secluded and private. It was our habit as a couple to go for a short walk in the morning just before breakfast was served, to marvel at the beautiful canals and scenery. It was snowing every morning so you can just imagine how picturesque everything was from the Jasmine Room (2nd floor) with the large windows covering one entire wall. Every time we mention to our Dutch friends that we stayed in Herengracht, they always tell us that it is a very Chic place. We definitely agree!
Second, the room and the entire decor of the B&B is beautiful, rustic, and charming. Carlos and Roelf-Jan definitely have great taste! I couldn't stop taking pictures of the place, it was so lovely and the fragrance all around the house was heavenly. The room was spotless, the bed very comfortable, and the bathroom was so clean. We loved the little mural behind the bed which was painted by Carlos himself!
Third, the best breakfasts in Europe can be had in this B&B. Imagine a hefty breakfast of freshly scrambled eggs with different toppings every morning, freshly made smoothies and fruit cups that I don't know how Carlos made, but they were amazing.
Lastly, the customer service was unbeatable. You really feel like you're a friend and very welcome in Amsterdam.
We have vowed to make a stop in amsterdam everytime we go to europe, and to stay at Sunhead everytime! :)
Thank you again for the wonderful stay.
