We stayed at the Singel apartment 14th to 17th of November and it could not be in a better location. We looked out onto a quiet street and canal. The apartment was very cosy and had everything that we needed for a long relaxing weekend.
We had been delayed in arriving from the airport, but Ken was there to greet us and give us information about places to eat and visit, nothing was too much trouble. This was our second visit to the city but when we are there next time we shall without doubt stay at Maes B&B/apartments.

It probably doesn't need to be said again, but WOW this place is so great. The rooms are clean and spacious, the breakfast was always delicious and filling, and Jason is the greatest! Seriously, he is the most polite and accomodating person I have encountered throughout my travels. He's so great that my friend and I still talk about him one year later!
The only thing I didn't like about Maes was that our door did not have a lock. Though we had no problems and always carried important materials on us, it was a bit unsettling at first.
When I make it back to Amsterdam I will be sure to stay at Maes again. The location is great - in a quaint, safe part of the city - and we found it easy to walk everywhere. Not to mention that Ken & Vlad left granola and snacks out in the kitchen for guests to nibble on. Talk about hospitality.!

This was our third time staying at Maes B & B. The third time's a charm and so was the first time and the second. And we're sure the fourth time will be, too. We love the owners (Ken and Vlad) and the staff (Jason and Arnel), the facilities, the location and the price. One can not do better than Maes B & B when staying in Amsterdam.

A brilliant stay at Heren (Maes). It’s a great B&B in a superb area of Amsterdam. My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and could easily have stayed for a month in early March 2008.
It was an easy 10 minute walk from the Amsterdam central station to the accommodation. Cafes/restaurants are abundant within a 10 minute walk and the local charm of the area is evident in its very location.
As other travellers have noted, the stairs are quite steep and narrow. This was our first foray into B &B’s and the room they gave us was very clean with a comfortable bed and tastefully decorated. It felt like home. This was a fantastic place. We had a room at the rear overlooking the garden. The bedroom with its own private bathroom was reached via a spiral staircase.
Breakfast was excellent and included jams, cereals, yoghurt, different kinds of bread, cakes, fresh fruit, ham & cheese and plunger coffee. It is also possible for guests to use the kitchen as they please (except during breakfast).
There is reasonably fast wireless internet -- and it's free.
Ken and Vlad are superb hosts’ very accommodating make you feel at home. As you'll see from other reviews, they have a reputation for being extremely helpful and courteous. It's entirely deserved.
I would definitely stay here again -- and can't recommend it highly enough. Thanks guys

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights at the end of September. We enjoyed staying here and met other very nice travelers. We had some great conversations sitting around the breakfast table. Breakfast was really good and much better than we expected. Ken and Vlad were very accomodating. As other travelers have noted, the stairs are quite steep and narrow. They did not pose a problem for us because we did not bring heavy luggage on this trip. The room they gave us had a very comfortable bed and was tastefully decorated. We would love to stay here again.
