“A really cozy B&B, highly recommend!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2011

My husband and I traveled to Holland for the tulip vacation in May. We stayed at Maes B&B for 8 nights. Our room was on the top floor of the old Dutch building. It included a small living room, a kitchenet, a bathroom and of course a comfortable bedroom. The decorations of the our suite were very home atmosphere, and let me felt as easy as staying at home. By the way, Maes B&B had quite a good location. It was very convenient to go to the central station and the train station, and the Ann Frank's house was just in the walking distance. The surrounding environment was quite and safe public security.
The most important thing I have to say is that, the service was quite helpful and nice. Vlad and Ken were both nice hosts. Their staffs were also full of responsibility. They were so friendly, so kind, and did a lot of favor during our travel.
I highly recommend this wonderful to all tourist in Amsterdam. If I come back again, of course it will be the first choice to stay.

We stayed at Mae's B and B in August. My husband, daughter and I had the room at the tip top of the house. Vlad was there to great us when we arrived. There is a lovely kitchen downstairs where the breakfast is served each AM. The breakfast selection was wonderful. Many different food options provided and everything was very fresh. In addition, we had our own small kitchen with a sink, refrigerator and hot pot right in our room. The location was very convenient to everything. We walked to Anne Franke house and other sites. Our hosts were very gracious and provided us with useful information and excellent service. WiFi internet was also available in the house. I highly recommend Mae's.

This was our 4th stay at Maes and was a bit disappointing. We have always given 5 star reviews in the past, so let me explain. Still great location, still clean, friendly staff and a great breakfast to start the day! We were in the canal house for the first time. It is more modern and certainly has great common areas and kitchen for your use, but our rooms were down under the street level, so it felt darker and a bit noisier. My wife the first night had trouble getting use to this and felt like she was sleeping in a dungeon. Our friends also did not like having the bathroom outside the sleeping area. Personal preference. Our rooms on Herenstraat always felt homey and we liked the quirkiness of the rooms there. Also the bath linens were a bit worn, so we requested new ones the next day and they weren’t any better. The bed comforter was in similar shape, warn with a few tears. We will still come back to Maes as we enjoy the location and Staff, including Ken and Vlad (sorry we missed you two this trip) but will request the rooms on Herenstraat or an apartment higher up.

Room Tip: We prefer the older appartments on Herenstraat

Nothing but positive things to say about Maes B&B! There are two different buildings (within about a block of each other) and we stayed in the Canal Street house. The location itself was great. Amsterdam is a bit on the smaller side as far as cities go, but has great public transportation and is easily explored, especially from Maes' location. Maes is close to the main train station as well (15 minute walk with luggage). The B&B owners could not have been any nicer, were very personable and friendly, and took plenty of time to give us advice on places to go and things to do. The houses/rooms are very modern and kept extremely well. There are multiple kitchens available for use 24/7 and the prepared breakfasts were awesome.

Thanks guys, we stayed in the Canal House and it was just beautiful, with the canal just across the road. How many B&Bs boast a fully equipped kitchen and a decent sized sitting room? The room we had was large, modern and well furnished with an excellent bathroom.

I agree with Vlad - it is B&B&B (bed, breakfast and bathrooms - all perfect) but suggest it they also fill the perfectg B&B&B&W i.e. wifi was free and plentiful in band width.

Yes I would recommend this to friends.

Thanks Vlad and Ken for a wonderful few days from the Kiwi team.

I am currently staying in the appartment on the top floor of the Singel home. This place is fantastic!!! The location could not be better. Close to everything if you like walking and exploring. The view of the Singel is unreal, four huge window line the main living area that overlook the Singel. There is a great deck off the back for sitting, taking in the Sun, and just chillin'. The bedroom upstairs is huge. There is a full bath off the bedroom that is also very large and private. There are four of us guys and there is plenty of room for us in the one room. The beds separate in to four individual beds. Try "Greenwoods Cafe" two doors down, the place is always packed...after eating the food you will know why.
Ken and Vlad have been excellent. Both in my email booking and with face to face meetings. I have hardly seen them, Ken once, during check in and Vlad twice, once at check in and once when we accidentaly broke a lamp. The charge for the lamp was resonable and Vlad did not make a big deal out of it. The appartment was even cleaned on the fourth day of our eight day stay.

Don't hesitate to book this place....YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at Maes in September. Ken & Vlad were very hospitable and were happy to share their local knowledge on such things as restaurants and markets etc. We had a lovely room overlooking the back garden with a nice modern bathroom in the attic. Very peaceful and quiet. Comfy bed and pillows. We walked there with our bags from the train station which took no more 15 minutes. Within walking distance to the main shopping area, red light district and other attractions such as Anne Frank's house. The Pancake Bakery is close by as well - they make great savoury and sweet pancakes. Breakfast was great with plenty of choices including delicious pfofferjes. We would definately stay here again.
