Amazing location. Perfect for visiting the red lights and all they have to offer along with the popular city centre coffee shops and head shops. But, more importantly, walk in the right direction and you can virtually miss all that. Find yourself the gorgeous canal and bar culture and sample the world of cuisine on offer. Amsterdam has a new place in my heart after this trip (it already had one for the coffee shall we say, but has now reserved another for its beauty). If you stay here DO NOT miss the awesome Brouwerji de Prael pub/cafe and local beer shop that is literally around the corner. Nor the wonderful Brouwerji ij, Gollem and Arendsnest if you like your beer. Anyway, back to Velvet.
Beautiful rooms that are quiet (so long as the restaurant downstairs don't party til the wee hours) and well furnished.
Lovely hosts as with most B+B's to be honest
A good, healthy, and probably typically dutch breakfast
Oh yeah, and did i mention REALLY cheap for the area/quality
