“I don´t recommend the double private room.”

We booked the double private room shared toilet and shared shower . The price was 100€ per night which is about average for a decent hostel with good facilities. Upon arriving we left our bags briefly in a room by the front desk which is what I thought to be a broom closet. Later on, we found out that it was our room!!?? It was an extremely small room with 4 walls and a double bunk bed crammed into it. Enough space to open the door and a small sink in the corner. I don´t mind small spaces but the proximity to the front desk and the sound travel meant that every person coming into the hostel at all hours, the loud front desk staff and the work trucks that pull up right under the window pretty much left us with little sleep. It felt very un-private for a "private room".
Cleanliness was a problem. We found hair that wasn´t ours on a pillow case on our first night. We had to exchange it.
About the bed bug comments in the previous post...we also ended up with bites from mites. Unless it´s mosquito season in Amsterdam, I can only assume that it is the lack of hygiene in these rooms.
The day time desk staff guy (romeo) was very helpful and good with people. It´s a shame that the facilities did not live up to the service. Perhaps the rooms on other levels are better but I wouldn´t book the main level rooms. No value or privacy for money spent.

“Honney moon at Cosmos Hostel”

We made a europe tour during our honney moon and after Denmark we went to Amsterdan. We could`nt stay at a better hostel than Cosmos Hostel. We took a look around searching for a place and we were very happy and we could found a room at Cosmos. It`s certainly the nicest hostel in the city. People who works there are extremelly gentil and always doing everthing to help.

They gave us a lot of informations about the city, the restrooms and showers were clean and the beds were confortable. As a young and just married couple we can tell that Cosmos is a place fot all ages. There is always young people around, the atmosphere is happy but is also quiet. And... there is a coffe just across the street if you want to have fun!!!

Cosmos Hostel is very close to the Dam Square, wich is one of the most importants places in Amsterdan.

They offer a simple but nice breakfast and is opened 24 hours. We very glad to recomend Cosmos Hostel.

A nice small hostel which was good if you don't want to be around a huge amount of people and just hang out with you mates and have a good time. staff were so friendly and always happy to help. A very good location and it's close to everyhting you need and so close and easy to find from the train station. very cool and friendly cat. Our room was a very good size and had a sink in it and a TV as well in the room

Basically everything you expect in a hostel: small enough to be cosy (for the price) and friendly staff to boot. I personally have traveled to Amsterdam a couple of times, but this time, I felt that I was truly welcome in hostel; there were instances for example were the staff and I (including my friends) just sat and joked around, you know like they weren't just there to run the place. They also provided invaluable information the city, information that one would never really pick out on the tourist maps. I was armed with information needed to go to all the right places, rather than the pre-set 'ideal locations' that every tourist must visit.

So yes anyone looking for a hostel with proximity to the heart of the city and with staff that are oh so welcoming - you have Hostel Cosmos.

Loved my stay there, and simba was really cute.
It is situated at the heart of Amsterdam City. Recommended for all.
