“Fantastic find! ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

We decided to take a short post Christmas break and avoid the large chain hotels. We lucked across The Townhouse Inn by chance and it turned out to be an incredible find!

Christian was the perfect host from the first email confirming the booking to the last handshake goodbye. We arrived late but he had already given us the codes to get into the house and our room. We got the train from Schipol to the Central Station then a cab from there although we needn't have as it's less than 15 mins walk or a couple of minutes on the very efficient buses!

The room was amazing, modern furniture and fittings, solid but not noisy, wooden floors and a lovely welcome note from Christian.

The next morning we went to breakfast and Christian was there with a big smile and loads of advice for getting around the city and where to go as well as what to see.

Breakfast was brilliant and his scrambled eggs are to die for! Very well cooked and wonderfully seasoned.

There are restaurants and bars close by, a micro brewery within 15 mins walk and close to everything you need in the city.

Getting to and from the Townhouse is easy, either the 22 or 48 bus from just across the main road or a slightly longer walk left along the main road past the IJTunnel you then have a choice of 5 buses that run every 2 or 3 mins to the central station. From there you can get trams all over the city or walk down to Dam Square, The Canals or the Red Light District.

Enjoy, it really is worth it!

A really great place to stay. Very clean and comfortable rooms with everything you need. Breakfast really tasty, fresh and plenty of choice. Christian and colleague Paulo very welcoming, friendly and helpful for tips etc. Walkable from Central Station, good area to stay in. Some lovely restaurants opposite over the canal plus a great little bar just down the road for a quiet drink or coffee! Had superb meal at Koffie Huis Van Den Volksbond.

Room Tip: Our room looked over the canal as was really lovely. Super view.

We stayed for the last 2 nights of September and echo all the previous good reviews - stunning bedrooms, great breakfasts, good location and Christian is a perfect host - we particularly liked his help and advice in finding places to go/things to do that perhaps you don't always find in the commercial guides. The area is nice and quiet but fairly central and there are a couple of good local restaurants and several nearby bars.

This place has everything you need. Perfect location, modern spotlessly clean rooms, lovely breakfast but most of all Christian who runs the place a warm and friendly guy who makes you feel at home the moment you arrive. Nothing is too much trouble even down to helping with your sightseeing!

We stayed at the Townhouse Inn on 20th & 21st September 2013. What a place, there is nothing bad we can say about this place, it truly is faultless. Rooms are modern and spotless. They have all the mod cons (kettle / TV / fridge). The bed was so comfortable we slept very well. As for the host, Christian !! Exceptional host, very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and his breakfasts are delicious and plentiful. The location is as everyone describes - near to everything. Perfect is so so many ways, you would be a fool not to stay here.

Room Tip: We had a room facing the front which was large with great view over the canal. Still lovely and quie...

We stayed at the Townhouse-Inn for three nights. Christian our host was extremely helpful and friendly and made a lovely continental breakfast each morning. The room was modern and clean and the bed was very comfortable. It also had a large flatscreen tv, a fridge and free WiFi. The location of the b&b is fantastic, a short walk from the central station and the harbour. There are a number of great bars and restaurants immediately opposite the b&b which serve food for a variety of tastes and budgets. We hired bikes on our first day there and really enjoyed seeing the city in this way. The only challenge we faced as light sleepers was the noise from the road outside but this could be overcome by opting for a room facing away from the canal.

Location is in an excellent position, near to everything, as central station, tram and buses, canal tours, Dam, restaurants. Rooms are very confortable, everything is new, cool furnitures...Christian is a very nice and very cooperative person. It will be my first choice in future trip to Amsterdam. Stairs are the very typical dutch ones.

Room Tip: No real issue
