Unique , well designed and friendly stay in Amsterdam. A little off the center of the city but worth the walk. Good breakfast, great Bar and lovely garden when weather allows. Each room is different, most of them are 2 levels rooms with luxirious showers and nice amenities.
The staff is young and friendly, always helpful.
Ideal for dine-in dinner.

What we liked...
We stayed at Hotel Arena on a 3 night city break in Amsterdam. The hotel was very clean, and the staff were excellent. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet with a view overlooking a canal. The room was a split-level, with bathroom & living area downstairs and a bedroom upstairs. The hotel bar is a nice space to sit and have a drink, and the prices are good, they also serve excellent food at the hotel restaurant. We were able to hire bikes at the hotel which was very convenient, and it was only a short walk to the nearest tram stop at Alexanderplatz.

What we didn't like...
The bathroom in our room was surrounded by glass walls,so there was no privacy at all when using the toilet or shower. The hotel is not walking distance from the centre of Amsterdam and is about 10mins on the tram to Rembrandt Square and about 20mins to Dam Square.

In short, if you can handle being a little further out of the town centre I think Hotel Arena is an excellent find. You will not be dissappointed!

Unique hotel close to the centre of the city. Parking at €25 is standard for anywhere within the city. Good value.

We were a little worried after reading some reviews on here when we'd booked a 3 night stay this week, but we needn't have been. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. They took my credit card details as most hotels do incase we used the mini bar or pay per view television, but they did not make a charge to it. The hotel is beautiful. We had a free upgrade to a deluxe room which was one level but huge with 28ft ceiling. Bed is very large and comfortable and we also had a sofa and desk. The only thing I would perhaps advise is that although the bathroom is beautifully done in black glass and tiles, if you are not completely comfortable with the person you are sharing with, it may be rather embarrassing. Although you can generally hear everything in standard rooms/bathrooms anyway. There is a free electronic safe in the wardrobe and some television is also free. Kettle and tea and coffee supplies also supplied and you can get more supplies from the bar or reception if you are brew guzzlers like us. We had bed and breakfast and the breakfast was of decent quality and plenty of choice. We also had a free lunch one day which was very tasty. Although the hotel is situated quite far from central station the trams come very close. The number 7 & 10 stop on the Gravenstraat 2 minutes walk and the 9 (to central) and 14 stop at Alexanderplein 5 minutes walk. A 72 hour tram pass is only €16 and we made great use of ours. We usually stay centrally, but we really enjoyed being away from the centre and we will be returning.

My son booked the hotel for me and he frequently has to travel to Amsterdam and said he had been to a party in Hotel Arena and it was really nice. I had images conjured of not being able to sleep and drunken customers at night! This could not be further from the truth. The rooms are luxurious, the bathroom was more than ample and the bed was huge, one of the best nights sleep I have ever had. I would definitely return to the hotel due to the ideal location and reccomend it to anyone!
