We found this hotel on TripAdvisor a few months before leaving for vacation. All of the positive reviews posted seem accurate. We stayed on the top floor of this building in a two-story apartment. The staircases seemed a bit perilous, especially since we were not the most agile of traveling groups, but they offered to carry our bags for us. The place is a few blocks from the train station, making it easy to get to and from the airport.

All of this in mind, Amsterdam Escape is not for tourists accustomed to sterile big-chain hotels. It seems to cater to younger guests, which is fine if you know this in advance. The owners are great and the amenities are wonderful. That said, if you are expecting a traditional hotel room, you will be disappointed.

Amsterdam Escape is an outstanding accomodation company. We've used them twice, and I have friends who have been back to use them 3 times. The flat is in a central location, extremely well furnished with every and any amenity one might need for a stay in the Dutch capital. From a broadband pc to a fully stocked kitchen to two PS2 consoles, there is nothing left to chance! The flat is very clean, the staff freindly and reliable-they sorted a fuse problem we had within an hour! In short, I would recommend this place to anyone. And everyone!

Loved this place. We stayed in "Amsterdam High" - a cosy studio apartment at the top of a canal house in the middle of Amsterdam.

The apartment had everything we could need, and it was really well placed for exploring the city.

Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Amsterdam.

I was so excited about staying at this hotel, when we made our reservation two months ago. My husband and I have been planning the trip for over a year and staying here was our number one choice. We have heard so many good things about this hotel and how they take good of their customers from reviews on Tripadvisor.

Sadly, we were contacted last Thursday by the hotel to let us know that one of their main buildings didn't pass fire inspection and they were cancelling all reservations at that location for six month. Hotels that I have made reservations in the past, that have run into unforeseen problems (water damage, weather damage, overbooking, etc.) have made it a priority to relocate my reservation in an equal or upgraded room even if that has meant the hotel had to pickup some of the extra cost. All Amsterdam Escape offered were smaller apartments of lesser value or upgrades that they wanted me to pay extra for. I wouldn't mind so much but with this specialized hotel and their iron clad non-refund of deposit policy if the customer changes there mind, even months before their date of arrival, I am shocked that Amsterdam Escape didn't do more to help me and other customers like myself when it was their turn to cancel reservations due to their lack adhering to new fire codes.
