It has been almost 8 months since we have returned from our honeymoon, but the great memories still linger. Amsterdam was the perfect spot for myself and my wife and Amsterdam Escapes offered the perfect alternative to being pampered in an elite hotel for $400-500/night (for the same amount of space you would pay at least that).

From being picked up at the airport (although we failed to know that there was a designated "pick-up location" in the airport where we would meet our ride) to being dropped off again, our experience was nothing but positive. The service and guidance provided by Brendan and the other managers was priceless and their service was incredible. My new wife was ill on one of the nine days we were in Amsterdam so we decided to lay low and watch a movie. Turned out, the VCR wouldn't rewind any of the tapes in the apartment. Brendan personally came to the apartment, rewound the tapes at the office, and then dropped them off again. This was just one example of the great service.

As far as the apartment goes, we were located on a canal with our windows on the second floor overlooking the street and canal life below. We could sit at the window and enjoy the setting or we could walk down the steps and be in the heart of Amsterdam. It was only a 5-15 minute walk to any distinct tourist location and even less if you were like us and just looking to hang out in a cool city. Just down the street (from our apartment on Kloveniersburgwal Str....just north of Nieuwmarkt) is a great coffee shop called Basjoe with the best service and cappucino around for smokers and non-smokers. For those not interested in smoking, the apartment is just as enjoyable and the city the same. The people, the canals, the pedestrian nature, the parks, all of it is intoxicating and sets the scene for a wonderful vacation. When we go back, we will definitely go through Amsterdam Escape. We give this the highest recommendation.
