The Muziektheatre is built as part of the "Stadshuis" of Amsterdam. During the day it is mainlyfor mundane business, such as for Amsterdamers applying for passport, driving licences, building permits, etc., while the Muziektheatre part is busy with dancers and musicians, stage-hands, etc. doing their rehearsals and preparations for performances.
We went a few times during our several visits to Amsterdam, to concerts, operas and dance performances in the evening - both classical and contemporary, and we enjoyed the evenings spent there. We had friends who booked the tickets ahead for us.
It is recommended to go online to view the season's or the year's programme listing dates, times and performances, and go on to do your seat booking online. The accoustics are very good. There is a special restaurant within the building serving theatre menu. Upstairs in the theatre, just outside the entrances to the seats, are bars and counters serving drinks that can be pre-ordered and are waiting for you during the intermissions.
