A rare opportunity to see a furnished canal-side house with its graden and coach-house. Formerly owned by Hendrik van Loon, merchant and one of the founders of the Dutch East India Company, this cantains family memorabilia and furnishings of the period, giving an excellent impression of life with a monied family. This shows both Upstairs and Downstairs life. The basement gives access to a period garden at the back of which is the original coach-house in which tea/coffee/cakes are available. There is also a 15 minute video narrated by one of the last members of the family who remembered life there in the 1930s.
