“One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2014

The hotel is stunning and the level of service I received was among the best I have ever experienced. I highly recommend The Conservatorium and would definitely stay there again if I ever make it back to Amsterdam! Although expensive, the quality of the amenities and level of service make it worth it.

The neighborhood is the museum district and a bit distanced from the hustle and bustle of the heart of the city. This may be a plus for some but could be a downside for those who want to step out of the front door and be in the center of shopping, cafes and nightlife.

This is a very good hotel. Created out of a vast former bank they have created the most amazing atrium that houses the (excellent) restaurant, bar and reception area. I could happily while away a few hours sitting in that space watching the world go by!
with 6-7 floors of rooms, they do stretch down rather long, dark impersonal corridors. But the (2) rooms we had were light and well designed with all the usual modern features. i never like rooms where you can't open the windows, i could just about on these, but if you desire fresh air you will have to rely on the air conditioning.
all the staff from the man that greats you, to the waiters and waitresses, reception, concierge were all superb. knowledgable, friendly and of course all speaking impeccable english. we particularly valued their restaurant recommendations, all local and 'just around the corner'.
we did not really use the spa, which looks like it is of top quality. there is certainly a beautiful relaxing pool with lovely facilities around it, and a top quality gym.
the hotel is located just off the canals, but is right next to the main museums, and being Amsterdam nothing is really that far away.
we will definitely come back

Room Tip: just ask. there must be hundreds of rooms!

This was our first stay at the Conservatorium and we had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautiful and situated near all of the museums and close to the gorgeous Vondel park. Luxury shopping also close by. Easy to walk to city center. Staff was very helpful and courteous. The bar offered great drinks and a fun atmosphere. Lobby a great place to sit and relax after a long day. We would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a hotel that offers a contemporary upscale experience.

Room Tip: Our suite was over the top!

Stayed in the Conservatorium hotel for the second time. First time was December 2013, second time was April 2014. Beautiful rooms, perfect beds and bed linen. Second time, I stayed in a room with a separate floor for the bed. Nice concept but a very small room, I must add. Most important however, the windows cannot be opened but if that room needed anything, it was fresh air. Would not stay again in this hotel before being assured that fresh air can come into the rooms.

Dear guest,

First of all I would like to thank you for choosing to stay with us again. I am disappointed however that your second stay did not live up to your previous experience at our hotel. For any future stays please be sure to inform us about your room preference. We would be more than happy to give you a room that fully meets your needs including windows that can be opened. We really hope you will be our guest again to experience a truly memorable stay.

This is such an amazing hotel! Great design, great location, the common areas are amazing!
It is in the old music conservatorium from Amsterdam and the mix between the old and new is absolutely gorgeous.
Has small little designer shops, an amazingly tasty breakfast and the spa and gym is to die for!
The service is superb and all the staff goes the extra mile to make you feel at home and welcomed.
All in all, an amazing experience all together! Really recommend it!

Room Tip: If travelling without children, go for the Superior Duplex Guest Room. Great value for the money!

Last saturday I visited the hotel for a nice summer cocktail. When I asked for a small show around the Front Office Manager was so kind to take me and my company four an extensive tour. We have seen 3 of the amazing rooms and suites. Really amazing, beautiful design and as soon as you enter the room you will be overwhelmed with luxury. After the rooms she have seen some of the stunning meeting rooms situated above the brasserie, in the courtyard of the hotel. Overall a great experience looking forward to the my next visit.

The Conservatorium is a large centrally located former bank and music conservatory that has been converted into a luxury contemporary hotel. It is excellently located to all three of Amsterdams best and most well known museums..in fact, within easy walking distance...The Rijks, the Van Gogh, the Stedelijk.

The service-from doorman to reception desk to concierge-are extremely welcoming and helpful.

The Junior Suite on the top floor is like a medium size studio, repleat with old structural beams angling across the ceiling and floor. The automated shades work to shield the abundance of light at night. The bathroom is large, comfortable and very well equipped with lots of amenities.
The rooms are individually controlled and the AC is a welcome relief to the often warm and humid temperature outdoors. ( Although the common areas, like the hallways, are sweltering. They need to figure out how to fix this. ) The beds are comfy!

Their Brasserie has delicious croquettes..a dish made popular in the Netherlands. The breakfasts were disappointing.

The concierge hit it three times with his restaurant suggestions. Use him! Except make sure you confirm any cancellations of activities that you sign up for or you will be charged!

The trolleys are easy to take and right outside the hotel. We took it a few times to the town center-Old Town-and to the canal areas, as it rained the four days we were there.

Speaking of weather, beware. Holland is known for its' wet weather and it lived up to its reputation in May. Come prepared and leave the hotel prepared!

Would highly recommend the Conservatorium!
