“Third World Countries in a building”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2014

The building self is wonderful and the collection is great. Very informative. You can spend the whole day to learn the art or culture of the third world countries. Most of these countries were ever been colonized by the Dutch Government in the past. That's why the collection of countries such as Indonesia, Papua, Suriname are tremendous.
This museum has a permanent exhibition and in the middle hall, there is also a thematic exhibition that always changed in a period of time. I always make a stop by this special place in the "mexico" corner. It is a place where you can see ( through the magnifying glass) the tiny figures in the carnival costumes that's made from toothpicks.
You can bring your children as this museum has children departement. Sometimes they organized activities special for children only (parents may not take a part of it) so you can enjoy the museum by yourselves while the children are busy with their activities.

“Make time for this”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2014

Good to find out about somebody else's colonial past! Excellent for children/young teens with staff-led activities. Find out about any temporary exhibitions - the recent Escher and Islam was terrific. Don't miss the cafe - freshly prepared, well-priced food with a unusual veggie choices.
