“A perfect place to enjoy nature just outside Amsterdam”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

In fact the 'Amsterdanse Bos' (Amsterdam forest) is a huge park on the outskirts of the south of Amsterdam. It is perfect place for long walks and cycling tours. Because of the size of the forest it always give you the feeling that you are one of the few visitors. Which is not the case because a lot of people visit the forest. There are enough possibilities to entertain children and to have a meal or a drink in a restaurant.

“A place to relax”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

If after hectic work day you need a place to relax or you have seen the busy Ams downtown, head to this park and take it slow. It is good for jogging or biking or just walking around.

“Stretching your legs during transfer at Schiphol Airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

During his last day in Holland, my Chinese friend and family had to bridge some 6 hours before check-in their luggage at Schiphol Airport and another 3 hours before boarding the plane to Shanghai. He was asking me for ideas, how to fill up that gap and I suggested to rent bicycles to tour the Amsterdamse Bos (Amsterdam Forest). Although the (small) bicycle rental shop is way at the eastside of the forest, it takes only a 20 minute bus ride to get there. Bus line 300 is right in front of the arrival hall and takes you in just 6-7 minutes to the bus terminal in Amstelveen. There you switch to line 174 to arrive at the entrance of the Amsterdam Forest in less than 15 minutes. Of course you can take a taxi as well, but that's less adventurous.
Check their website at www.amsterdamsebosfietsverhuur.nl for all the details.
The Chen family was overwhelmed by the beauty of this forest and the variety of bicycle tracks, as well as the attractions. The bicycle shop owner was very polite and flexible. Everybody got a fitted bicycle and their luggage could even been temporary stored in the shop. The forest with almost 50 km of bicycle tracks looked so green and smelled so nice, that in spite the free map, it was difficult to plan a serious route. Therefore I took the lead and let them enjoy the beauty of this more or less underrated attraction. It's only open during the summer period, but this is the perfect way to stretch your legs, when you've o wait a couple of hours for your transfer at Schiphol.
