“Location and Price - Good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2010

We stayed for 5 nights in June, for a price of 370€ (payed in cash and including breakfast and taxes). The hotel is in a very nice and good residential area, so it isn't very noisy. The tram (number 2 or 16 - exit Valeriusplein) is 100 mt so it's very near to everywhere in Amsterdam. It takes about 10 minutes to the central station. If you want to walk you have Reijks, Van Gogh and others museum only 15 minutes, this hotel is very near museum area. Also you have Liedsplein, 30 minutes walking, which is a very "busy" square with lots of bars, restaurants and entertainment. The hotel, for a 2 star hotel, it's good. The room and the bathroom is what you see in the pictures: bed, space in room and armories are good; bathroom was clean but the shower wasn't so good. We just had some problems with the stairs, very narrow and inclined. If I knew I would have asked for a room in second or first floor, we stayed in 4th floor, it was very difficult to take 2 bags. The breakfast is good with some variety. People in the hotel were nice!

I stayed at the Wilhelmina last week whilst exhibiting at the Rai. The hotel itself is not fantastic, but it is cheap, we paid 65 euro a night inc breakfast. It's a three storey hotel, with very narrow, steep staircases. The steps themselves are also very narrow, so bear this in mind. Apart from that it was ok. Room was clean but basic, as was the shower, however what do you want for 65 Euro ?? The hotel was quiet and breakfast was also adequate. Street parking around hotel is about 21 Euro a day. Bus & tram stops are very nearby.

I have booked this hotel for three days but couldn't fly since all the flights got cancelled. They have charged the full amount. This is fine because this is the term they are agreeing while booking that 7 days before cancellation should be done. I was asking for the invoice for the charges but there is no proper response. All the reception speaker were quite rude in the phone. Customer satisfaction is aboslute nil in this hotel. Will never choose hotel again.

We reserved this hotel based on Trip Advisor and were completely dissapointed. DIRTY! The rooms were not clean, good amount dirt, dust, & cigarette burns throughout. Wall are super thin - you can hear everything!
There are no cribs available. We had to pay 20 Euro a night for our 18 month old to share our room (without a crib).
Requires bank statement or something showing you have paid for hotel to check-in. Manager would not give the key until statement was provided, plus charges for Baby & key deposit. Mangager tried to charge us for internet used to show him our statement of payment.
Steep stairs throughout the hotel. Long way from anything! Tram is accessible but 3 Euro per person per ride.

We found the hotel to be good value at 55 euro per night for two people in a twin room including a good basic breakfast. Pay cash though or they will want a few more percent for paying by card.

Tram ride into the city is very easy on the #2 which stops about 50m from the hotel on the same road, or you can walk it to the centre in about 30 minutes.

Car parking is not easy, you have to pay if you stay on the streets nearby (about 20 euro a day) or I used the old Olympic Stadium under-ground car park about 1.5 km away that still was not cheap at 24 euro for two days but for that price you also get a park and ride ticket for the trams.

Stairs are very narrow and have a steep sweep so keep your witts about you or you may find a quick way down.

I had a last minute flying visit for work to Amsterdam and had no idea where I was staying until I got picked up at the airport. This basic hotel was perfect. I checked-in, had a shower and went straight out to work. I arrived back to my room at 5am before waking at 9am and then checking out at 10am. I'm not sure I'd like to stay there any longer, but for a quick in and out, overnight stay it was spot on. Really friendly staff too.

We had been at the wilhelmina for 2 nights. The price was 100 EUR per room per night. The building is the classical amsterdam, steep steps, no elevator, so funny. You have to struggle with your luggages when you climb the stairs. The room was spacious according to Amsterdam standarts. Bathroom was ok. Breakfast is not splendid but we can say ok. There is the VondelPark near to the hotel and it's amazing. The amsterdam street tram is so expanded and well-connected, no concern about the transport and of course you can walking to the city center if you want. Hotel is away to down-town for 15-20 min. by walk. Amsterdam hotels are very expensive and have low standarts according to other european cities...
