“Great short stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2012

Just back from a 3 night stay at this hotel. We booked a twin skylight room (no 14) as we were on a bit of a budget. I was concerned that it would be a bit dark but it was a great room and very light and airy. It had a wet room with a decent shower. There was no hairdryer in the room, but one was provided as soon as we asked. The room was very clean and comfortable, couldn't fault it at all. Although it was next to the kitchen we didn't experience any noise from it.
Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice.
The location is fantastic, right on the Amstel canal and near the Skinny Bridge. We walked everywhere from the hotel.
The staff were welcoming and very helpful.
We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again if we return to Amsterdam.

Room Tip: If on a budget the skylight rooms are very good value.

This place is centrally located for Amsterdam on foot. Our first night we easily walked to the red light district and beyond. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The free breakfast isn't superb, but it's free where most hotels charge 17 euro's or more per person. The "bar" is a counter attached to reception where the desk staff will pour you a drink. However, at 2.5 euro per beer, its the cheapest beer in town. The downside for us was the room amenities. There are only 2 actual gym lockers instead of a closet, and there are no dresser drawers. There are no counters in the bathroom either (and most women NEED counter space). We pretty much lived out of our suitcases which I'm not a big fan of doing. The tv is small, and there's no in room coffee machine. Stay here for the location, the service and the breakfast. Stay somewhere else if you are planning on a longer trip and need to settle down in a room.

Very welcoming hotel, good location with excellent views over the Amstel canal. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody travelling to Amsterdam including families. We stayed in the Amstel Gold Apartment which had two bathrooms, two bedrooms and large living area with great views. Breakfast was nice and there was plenty to choose from.

My partner and I have just returned from a 3 night break at The Brige Hotel and we can heartily recommend it as a great place to stay. The location on the bank of The Amstel is superb with great views of "Skinny Bridge". You are close enough to walk to the main areas of interest, Flower market, Rembrandtplein,Dam square,Red light district etc in 5-20 mins and if you want to go further there are trams and a metro station within 300 metres. Although close to all the attractions it is very quiet diring the night. The continental breakfast is plentiful and of a high quality and served in a pleasent room downstairs. The staff were very helpful, happy and willing to assist with any problems you had. It is definetlt worth paying a premium for the canal view rooms, 4 of which have private balconies. The only feedback I can give is that they should provide Tea/Coffee making facilities in the room and the quality and size of their bath towels needs to be improved.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a canal view

We choose this hotel because we had tickets for an evening performance in the theater with is just next door. The room we got (203) had a nice view over the river the Amstel and we could see the most beautiful bridge of Amsterdam (de magere brug) very clearly.
The Jewish "triangle" (historic museum, Portuguese synagogue and the Hollandsche Schouwburg memorial) are within walking distance. Hortus Botanicus and the Dutch resistance museum too.

Room Tip: The best rooms are at the front: 201 and 203. In summer the trees in front obstruct the view of the...
