“Superb location in Centrum and budget friendly too”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

We stayed here over the holidays. The location is right in "The 9 Streets" which is a popular destination for fashion boutiques, small cafes and local charm. We had a view overlooking the canal on the top floor, (very steep stairs) so be prepared. There was a lot of sun in the room and free WIFI. Breakfast was included in the fee and directly opens to the street for early morning people watching. The staff is very helpful and speaks English. They seem like students who enjoy talking about the city and local attractions (like Anne Frank House) within walking distance.

My stay at Hotel Wiechmann was my first experience in a small hotel in Amsterdam, and I am sure it will not be my last! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful in suggesting restaurants, places to visit, and in giving directions. The hotel is in an incredibly charming old building with comfortable and nicely decorated common areas. The rooms were simple, yet comfortable and clean. The stairs were rather steep leading up to the rooms, so beware of this if you don't handle stairs well. Breakfast was included and was a very good, typical European breakfast. The location is perfect - a short walk to the Anne Frank house, to the Central Station, or to the Red Light District. In short, I would highly recommend staying here!

Loved the traditionally furnished lobby and ambience. Lots of stairs and tight quarters in the room for 4 on the 3rd floor, but comfy beds. Breakfast was great, and the staff very helpful. Wish we could've had a canal view, but hard to find for this price for 4. Very close to Anne Frank and good Jordaan restaurants and shops, but no convenient metro or bus stops to other parts of the city.

Room Tip: Pack light for the stairs!

Having been at a large hotel close to the RAI for a conference, it was a real pleasure to move into what I decribe as a more traditional, small hotel in the central city. Easy to find and accessable to all the main city attractions plus the tram and bus to the airport, Hotel Weichmann is a great place for a short stay in Amsterdam. My room up 3 steep sets of stairs (expected) was small but clean and comfortable, with the bonus of free WiFi. The inclusion of breakfast in the room fee is great and the dining room provides wide views of the activities out in the street. Staff were friendly and helpful and the large alsation in the foyer really appreciated the attention of guests!! Remeber to explore the surrounding streets and Jordaan District, it's lovely.

If you want a "cookie cutter" hotel, the Wiechman isn't for you! If you want simple comfort, clean facilities, friendly staff, and convenience, you won't go wrong choosing this hotel. Ask for a canal-side room and enjoy the activity of canal boats and bicycles below. Breakfast was super - excellent variety of foods served in a bright, spacious room.

I love this little place, it's in a great location! I got a canal view from my window, and a free upgrade to a double bed. The room was small but clean and nice. The breakfast was wonderful, I loved sitting at the window in the sun, watching people walk by the canals, drinking my morning tea. Stairs are definitely hard to get up with luggage.. but I had read reviews and was anticipating that. It's great to stay in these unique dutch houses. Staff were friendly.

Room Tip: I asked for a canal view when I made my reservation...
