This is a great little hotel, the room was a little small but very clean and modern which is exactly what I wanted.
The bar is only an extension of the reception but its sufficient for a quick pint before you head off out.
The only one negative about the hotel was the very steep and winding stair case which many of people would find a task however there is 1 lift available.
Personally I had a fantastic time in Amsterdam and this hotel was great, I would definitely choose to reuse this hotel.

So I didn't actually stay here, but was in a pinch from having not printed my viator voucher for the Van Gogh musuem with its terribly long lines. I was told I couldn't get in without a printed voucher after waiting in line for an hour. But thankfully the concierge here helped me out even though I wasn't a guest here. Thanks so much! Absolute life-saver!!

I booked a room in this hotel to stay with 3 friends for one night. I booked the room only 2 days in advance.
We booked a Quadruple Room, which was big enough for all of us.
It cost us in total only 110e, breakfast included.

If all you need is a place to sleep comfortably and a good location for sightseeing, this couldn't be better. Yes - many of the rooms are small but the beds were very comfortable and the rooms spotless. The bottom two floors have undergone renovation and are minimalist. The breakfast was enhanced continental but plentiful. Like many old converted Amsterdam buildings the stairs ARE narrow and steep and there is no lift to the breakfast room but one serves the other four floors. The stop by tram (2 and 5 - 100 metres away) is right outside the Rijksmuseum and one stop from Leidesplein for restaurants and shops and one from the Concertgebouw in the other direction. We were concerned to find scaffolding outside but NEVER did the renovations bother us. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Great stay for the 49 of us in our group.

Room Tip: 212 is very small

We stayed here over the weekend and had a great time, the hotel is small and just around the corner from the Rijksmuseum. The room was really clean, we stayed in a room for three and there was just enough room, it was value for money and the breakfast was really good in the morning. We booked our hotel through booking.com and it stated we would not pay anything until we got there, on arrival they told us they had already take the first nights payment for two room on my credit card, when we pointed out this was not what they were supposed to do and explained why it wasn't appropriate they just said there was nothing they could do now which was a little annoying. As it had to be paid anyway we got over it and the manager behind the desk was very helpful explaining where to go. He was a nice man. I have been to Amsterdam before and never stayed on this side but found it was easy to get around and we were close to Leidesplein which was lively and had something going on at night. I would stay here again if I went back to Amsterdam. There was a continental breakfast included which was nice too, I had egg on toast both mornings. Dutch people are just really friendly and nice, and it really makes you feel welcome wherever you are.

Room Tip: Be aware you will have to pay some fee before you get there.

Access to hotel entrance from street is via some VERY steep steps. THIS HOTEL IS NOT SUITABLE FOR ANYONE WITH MOBILITY PROBLEMS or indeed for many others as carrying luggage up the steep incline presents a considerable challenge. The access to the breakfast area is down a very narrow spiral staircase which also present a significant health and safety risk! (the lift does not provide access to breakfast area). The room we were provided with was very small - bed located in tiny alcove with access only on one side. The bathroom was incredibly small access to the WC extremely awkward. The bedroom although very clean was inadeqately ventilated and not properly soundproofed - this hotel is very noisy! The public areas where some attempt has been made to look trendy or chic are in serious need of renovation

We visited Amsterdam from 8th-10th April. The hotel is situated down a road opposite the Rijksmuseum & just around the corner from the Van Gogh museum. There is a tram/bus stop also within a 60 second walk. On the map it appears to be on the outskirts but to be honest we did not feel we were far from anything & actually thought it was an ideal location. A few minutes walk away was Vondel Park, Heineken Factiory, an Irish Bar & the Hard Rock Café. You could easily take a nice leisurely stroll to Dam Square & this would take you approx 30 mins.
As for the hotel itself, in my opinion it was perfect. It was quaint and gave you a nice authentic stay, as opposed to being in a large branded hotel. The staff on arrival were lovely, & although we only asked to leave our bags there as we were too early to check in, they informed us that a room was available & we could check in straight away. Our room was immaculate. Nice clean, wooden floors. Spotless bathroom & spacious. (I was so impressed I took pictures and sent them too all my friends) I had read in previous reviews that the hotel rooms were cramped but this was not the case for us. Breakfast was simple but an added bonus considering it wasn't an additional cost. Bread for toast, meats, cheese, boiled eggs, jams, cereal options; fruit juice, tea/coffee. Perfect for us! Many reviews moan about the stairs. YES they are steep/narrow but so it would appear are many in Amsterdam. Once you have walked them a couple of times you become a pro! Overall 10/10 Thanks for having us, we will be back!!
