“A wonderful and fantastic place to stay!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2010

Amazing service and friendly staff, I can't believe this place is classed as 2 star. I had an awful experience booking a hotel in the red light district inadvertantly and moved here. Clean rooms, kitchly decorated with lots of light, TV, free wireless and phone. The service was brilliant! After my bad experience I insisted on room with an ensuite but they didn't have any single rooms so they gave me a triple room at a single rate - 75 euros. Well worth every penny. Breakfast was continental with lots of variety - too bad however if on low carb diets. The reception area is full of information about things to do, if like me you go without having a clue about amsterdam. I definitely recommend this hotel.

We basically got a clean private room with 2 separate single beds in the center of the city at a very reasonable price. We really could not ask for more. The decent breakfast was even a bonus for us. The hotel met and even exceeded our expectations for the price we paid.

After climbing the steep stairs to level one you are greeted by a smiling face at reception. Room was small but had fridge and tv with many channels in English. Very central to all to see and do in Amsterdam.

We stayed at this hotel and made a reservation for room number 7. The problem is, the bed was very uncomfortable and the heating or air conditioning was very noisy so we couldn't really sleep. On the day of the departure the staff already came about 15 minuets before leaving time and asked us to leave the room so they could come clean. When we told the manager of the hotel that this is unacceptable since we paid for the room and have the right to stay until last minute, she was very unfriendly and didn't appologize at all. It is a good location but because of the service being so unfriendly I wouldn't recommend it at all.

Pretty good place. There are lots of steep stairs though - not a problem for me but if you don't like stairs then maybe look elsewhere. Breakfast was OK, nothing too flash. Staff were OK although saw one of them go off at another guest for some reason. Room itself was good, although noisy in the morning as it overlooked the street, and a church nearby, but with earplugs, no problems. Also had a balcony with chairs and table. Very good for the money. Shared toilet and shower although right outside the door. 60e for a single, including breakfast.

Just off the Dam Square on Raadhuistraat up some very steep stairs is Hotel Clemens.
Clean homely style rooms , with cheery staff and excellent breakfast . Within easy walking distance of main station, bicycle hire, Dam Square and Ann Frank House and West Church. Safe area, plenty of coffee shops, cafes nearby . # 17 tram passes the door and runs direct to/from the main station . Good value by Amsterdam price standards.
Convenience store and Internet Cafe nearby.
