I was looking for a comfortable room with a spectacular canal view in Amsterdam's Jordan neighborhood, and I found one at Chic & Basic. A quick 7-minute walk from Central Station, the hotel sits near the corner of two canals and within reach of several cafes, shops and tourist attractions. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Their breakfast is one of the best we've encountered in Amsterdam (both in options and value). An epresso machine in the main lobby is available 24-hours per day for guests, offering free tea, coffee, espresso, latte, cappuccino, etc. A basic kettle with coffee and tea supplies is also provided in each room. Free internet access and room service are also a plus. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the towels soft. Navigating the narrow and steep stairs will be difficult for those guests lugging large bags. However, the view gained from the top floors is truly wonderful (and the rooms are far more quiet in comparison to those near street level). If you are looking for 4-star accommodation at a 2-star price, Chic & Basic is the place for you. Enjoy!
