This hotel features in a lot of guidebooks and after reading the non-biased reviews on tripadvisor we decided that it seemed worth a visit.
My girlfriend and I were not disappointed. The room we were in (number 5) exceeded expectations as it was bigger than we expected and was well equipped with sink, wardrobe, 3 mirrors and very comfortable beds - this is a twin room.
The breakfast in the hotel was also very adequate with a selection of meats, cheeses and jams. Toast, tea/coffee and fresh orange juice was also available and as too were hot hard boiled eggs.
If we had any negative things to say about the hotel it would be the showers. The one on our floor did not work, and the ones on the other floors are in a room were you hang your clothes alongside the actual shower. This is fine, but you need to be careful that you don't soak your clothes when they are hanging and when you are getting dressed. It would be a lot better if the shower had a curtain or something with a seperate area for you to dry off at the side. However, this is not a major issue.
Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel - especially as you are not in Amsterdam to see the sights of your hotel!! It is not right in the central, however Rembrandtplein is not far away, and this then follows to Dam square - there is a tram line right outside which is easy to follow and use too.
