“Excellent hotel in good location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

Located close in a quiet area close to museums and many tourist attractions. The hotel is clean with helpful considerate staff. Continental breakfasts with plenty of choice set you up for the day. Our room was small but adequate with comfortable beds. An extractor fan in the toilet / shower room would have been nice but these may well have been left out deliberately to keep noise levels down. There are plenty of good restaurants in the area, ask hotel staff for recommendation.

This quaint hotel is located in the Museumplein district of Amsterdam close to the Rijks Museum and the 'fashion district.' It also a 5min walk away from the Leidesplein - an area full of more shopping, restaurants and cafes.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. You are able to buy tickets for most of the major attractions here so you can skip the lines at the venues.
Breakfast was simple yet plentiful up in the lovely converted first floor breakfast room.
My room was clean yet small. I imagine if I had more luggage it would have been a struggle to find room for it but I heard them offering another guest storage for their bag.
Transport from Amsterdam Centraal is by tram and the stop if a 2min walk away right by the Rijks Museum.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling on their own and if you are not spending a lot of time in your room. Go out and see the sights!

The hotel is in a nice quiet location. It's about 10 minutes by tram from the centre. Room was good but bathroom tiny and they miss out on basic things like a couple of hooks to hang your clothes on. Also unusual to not have glasses replaced with clean ones each day. Beds were comfortable and breakfast staff were lovely as was the breakfast.

Excellent location and very friendly staff. On a very quiet street. Tram station is above 150 m from the hotel.Very clean, comfortable beds. Small rooms. The staff is very helpful with suggestions for visits to many places. 10-15 min walk to the shopping and restaurants streets. Breakfast could have been richer.

Pros: Friendly & very helpful staff. On a very quiet street. Outstanding breakfast buffet. Centraly located with many restaurants within 10-15 minute easy walk. Very clean. Confortable beds.
Cons: Very small rooms with no place to put your "stuff".

We again stayed in this lovely hotel - our 5th time - The Airport shuttle from Schipol (197) stops at the end of the street (Hobbestraat is the stop) at the same stop as the trams. We also find the staff helpful with suggestions for visits to many places. We reccommend Zaan Schan a short ride by train to the place of the Windmills & clog making, Haarlem, Altmar on Fridays (10.00am to 12.00 pm) is where the famous Cheese Market takes place and - for a trip on the canal as well. (they have the lowest bridges in Holland). Trips to Edam, Vollendam, cross over by boat and return from Marken are by the excellent bus service (near Central Station - new bus terminal). good value day returns. Plenty of restaurants can be found by crossing over the canal near the Rijksmuseum and take the 2nd street heading to the Liedelsplein - there are 2 streets with every taste type places. The hotel is just like Home & so friendly

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter

Stayed in Amsterdam for a weekend and must say that Hotel Aalders has probably the best location in Amstedam if you are seeking cultural weekend. Rijkmuseum is less than 5 min walking distance. Hard Rock Cafe is also 5 minutes walking distance. Pretty garden for a walk and shopping street with fancy shops is also nearby. Hotel staff is very friendly! We stayed in single rooms which are small, but to stay a night over is totally fine. Prices as in Amsterdam in general high, but relatively democratic pricing in Hotel Aalders. Breakfast could have been richer.

Room Tip: Single room on first floor has a nice garden to go out, so don't worry if you didn't get a r...
