“Quiet place in the Sleepless City.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

Very nice location near the museumplein. Few minutes for the rijksmuseum, museum of diamonds and Van Gogh museum.
Something around half hour walking to RLD and central station, or 10 minutes by tram.
Direct bus from airport stops just around the corner.
Absolutely friendly staff give me lot of advice about city sights, excursions and so on.
Very quite place, away from bad smells coffeeshops and noisy night clubs. So most of guests are aged people.
However, you still can go to the Leidseplein and have fun there. It's just 10 minutes walk.

Very small room.
I strongly believe it's time to change the elevator! I simply stuck in there! Thanks to hotel staff, the rescue was immediately.
I think that prices should be slightly lower.
No air freshener in toilet.

PS.
Stairs is awesome!

Spent a night with my family and was not impressed with the smell and tightness of the room. The kids were least impressed. The cost is very high compared to value from the facility. However, the breakfast has a nice spread of varieties. The location is very close to tram station.

We have stayed in Aalders for 3 nights. Very nice hotel. Small room with a TV, table, closet and bathroom. Bad (2 person) occupies the greater part of a room. But it was OK, because we didn't spend much time there. Tasty breakfasts, very frendly personnel, good location near park and museums (Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum, Rijksmuseum), two minutes walk to the tram station.

This is a wonderful smallish hotel which is family-owned just a couple of minutes walk from the Rijksmuseum and a couple of minutes from the "expensive" shopping street. It is very inexpensive but looks like it would cost more. Breakfast has a nice variety and the coffee was good with an excellent selection of teas also. I noticed a couple of narrow passageways where my 24" wide suitcase would only pass through SIDEWAYS so if you are a PERSON OF SIZE you might bear this in mind. A person of size might also not fit through the shower door as well. But if your BMI is 30 or less you should be quite comfortable. I forgot something and they had emailed me before I was even out of Amsterdam and the item is on its way to me. Fortunately the postage is less than it would cost to replace it.

I was looking for a small and cosy hotel to spend the week-end with my girlfirend for her birthday. There are many hotels in the same range of price, even perhaps closer to the city centre, but most of them appeared less friendly. This one was exactly was I was hoping for. It is very close to the city centre (2 min. walk from the 'beginning of the large centre) and 5 minutes from Leidsplein with its bars and restaurants. Yet, it is very quiet.
Rooms are of a good size, and beds very confortable. The personnel was extremely helpful and friendly.
The only minor point would be that the bathroom was a bit cold as there was not heating and quite a large extracting fan on the wall.
Apart from that: great location, great personnel, clean and for a good price. I would go back there if I come again to Amsterdam.

We stayed here one night in the 4 pp family room. It is a clean and large enough room with good beds and shower facilities. The staff were very helpful in showing around and advising where to go. Nearby tram stop takes you all over the place. They also offered some discounts. Parking was done in one of the P+R locations at a discount rate (note that you get the discount only if you inform the P+R people before paying through the P+R machine) and you need to keep your tram ticket as well. The hotel management was very helpful in storing luggage while we spent the second day visiting museums and shopping around. That was done after a very good breakfast. For food and drinks it is advisable to make use of nearby options. All in all we had a lovely stay in Hotel Aalders.

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights together with a friend.
The bed was extra wide. Bathroom was basic but good enough. Showercaps are too small to use and need replacement with another somewhat bigger model.
Staff were great and helpfull when I wanted to check for a location on the internet.
I forgot to take a pair of shoes with me and I was alerted very soon and they will send them back to me by post (t be payed by me).
The only minor point I could think of otherwise was that there was no choice for a baked or scrambled egg.
