We have just returned from Amsterdam and we stayed at this charming hotel. It truly was excellent. The hotel is situated just a short tram ride from the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam, which is good, so it makes it quiet to sleep and a pleasure to come back home to. The trams run very frequently right outside the hotel so that is not a problem (and if you are worried about the noise from the trams, they have very good double glazing and you can hardly hear them). The service at the hotel was impeccable. Run by a very nice family where nothing is too much trouble. There is a continental breakfast included with the price of the room and it was excellent - cereals, fresh meats & cheeses, eggs, yoghurt and the most delicious fresh rolls with butter and jam. The hotel is situated about 3 minutes from the Van Gogh museum and Rijks Museum where you can see numerous works of art by both Van Gogh and Rembrandt. Vondel Park is just around the corner for a relaxing stroll after a hard day. The stairs are quite steep though in the hotel which might make it difficult for some as there is no elevator (however, every museum house that we went in was the same - a trend in Amsterdam). I cannot fault this hotel at all and would totally recommend it to anyone who is visiting Amsterdam.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Zandbergen hotel from the 17th - 20th May and we were very impressed with it. The location while being out of the centre of Amsterdam is still good. It is within walking distance of the museum quarter and the number 2 tram stops very close to the hotel. After a hectic day in the centre it was nice to come back to somewhere that was quiet. The hotel was very nice and the staff were extremely helpful. The hotel and our room were very clean and the bathroom was good however the shower heads were not the best as they tended to get the floor of the bathroom wet. The hotel is no smoking however we stayed in a very nice room with a balcony (where you can smoke) towards the back of the hotel. The gentleman that was there in the morning was very nice and helpful and gave us good tips about places that we wanted to visit. For example we got our tickets for the Van Gogh Museum at the hotel and did not have to queue at all then which was great. All in all we had a very enjoyable stay and the hotel was very nice I would recommend the hotel to others.

  • Liked — Friendly service
  • Disliked — Very steep stairs and shower not great

Just back from a 4 night stay in the Hotel Zandbergen. This is a superb hotel. We could not find fault with it. Our double room was of adequate size (bigger than some rooms we've stayed in in the UK) and spotlessly clean. It had a minibar / fridge and we requested tea making facilities which were supplied free of charge. The bathroom was also in immaculate condition.

The continental breakfast was more than adequate. Cereals, rolls, croissants, ham, cheese and boiled eggs were all on offer, along with tea, coffee and toast.

The staff were very hospitable and always willing to help. The manager, Henk, is a gentleman.

The hotel also provides free internet access in the lobby, and free wireless internet access through out the hotel. We were on the 2nd floor at the back of the hotel and still got a decent signal.

The stairs are steep, but this is the case with alot of hotels in Amsterdam given the architecture of the buildings.

The hotel is located close to the Vonelpark which provides a beautiful walking route into the centre of the city. We walked to all the main attractions, e.g. Liedesplein - 20 mins, Central Station - 40 mins. There is also a tram stop 50m from the hotel for the no. 2 tram which goes to Central Station via the city centre.

The hotel is also easily got to from Schipol airport being one of the hotels serviced by the Connexxion Airport Shuttle. Excellent value at 19.5 Euro return.

This was our first visit to Amsterdam and we had spent alot of time searching for a hotel. We won't need to spend any time searching when we return again.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam. You will not be disappointed.

  • Liked — Great hospitality, cleanliness of rooms, free internet access
  • Disliked — No complaints, although stairs may present a problem in some cases

Just like all of the other reviews, this hotel is fantastic. The location is great, as it is in a great residential area, but is still close enough to walk directly into the center of the city. Also, the Number 2 tram stop is extremely convenient. And for those of you wondering, you can purchase a fair directly on the tram at the point of entry for 1.6 euros.

OK... Back to the hotel... The rooms are average size by European standards, but are extremely clean and well maintainted. The beds are some of the most comfortable we have ever had in a hotel and the pillows are superior. As many have stated, the stairs are step, but do give you a great workout to burn off all of the extra calories you will be drinking... I mean eating. The breakfasts are very good, and very convenient after a long night of fun. But the one thing that sets this hotel apart is the fact that the staff are all amazing. They were extremely accomodating and helpful no matter what we asked. They even lent us a bedsheet so we could take to Vondelpark for a picnic.

We absolutely loved Amsterdam, and this hotel is what helped make it even that much more special. Also, for the ladies, make sure you go to the lingerie shop just up the street. I think the name is Marline Dekkers. It is on the pricey side, but the lingerie is amazing. And the girls that work there, especially Roxanne and Anna are fantastic. And if you go, tell them the crazy couples from Florida say Hi!

Second time i have stayed at this hotel. This time i took my Parents with me to sample the Amsterdam Life.
This hotel is in a great location.Only a tram ride away (Number 2) from Central Station (1.60 Euro)or you can get a shuttle bus from Airport direct to hotel (19.50 Return).
Its in a residential area that has a police station a couple of yards down road (Safe area)
A nice pub on corner,as well as being across from Vondalpark
The owners and staff are all very friendly.
The rooms are clean and well maintained.
If you can get a room at rear even better.

My father was suffering from severe Ciatica when we got there and was given a loan of a walking Stick from the very nice gentleman behind desk

I will be back

Tips:
If eldery, but mobile then ask in advance for a room downstairs as it easier to get to then upstairs,as like most places in Amsterdam they have steep stairs
