“clean, quiet and friendly hotel near the museum quarter”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

Nice hotel, in a calm street, all was clean, people friendly, breakfast was good with choice. Nice position outside the animated heart of the city but very near the museums area, the vondelpark... You can get to the center city in 5-10 minutes by tram or bike (the hotel can rent you bikes)

Great to read your review, merci!

The hotel is indeed very well placed for travellers who want something different than just the hustle and bustle of the busy center. Being located in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid we offer a glimpse of real life in Amsterdam on the doorstep of the museums. Look forward to welcoming you back.

The hotel is comfortable, clean and welcoming where the staff are very helpful. Conveniently situated near to the Vondelpark in a nice area of town. Good restaurants in the vicinity. Easy travel to the centre, museums and Leidsplein by tram or walk.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quiet.

Very nice hotel in a very quiet area, close to Vondel park, close to tram station, not far from the city center. Service is very good, very welcome staff. Would come back again for sure.

The only one thing that is not good is a small shower/toilet room.

If what you are looking for is a small, family run hotel, which has a minimum of noise-inducing frills, but pleasant and friendly service then you would not go wrong with the Hotel Zandbergen. Located a ten minute walk from the Stedelijk Museum, and fifteen from the Rijksmuseum it couldn't be better placed for those seeking a bit of culture. The number 2 tram stops half a block away, puts you within easy reach of most of the City. There are numerous fine restaurants in the immediate neighbourhood to suit most tastes and budgets.

A word of warning if you book through e-bookers. It is not obvious that breakfast is not included in the price, and at 12 euros for a continental breakfast it's a bit pricey. What you gain on the swings, you loose on the roundabouts!

Room Tip: The front rooms overlook quite a busy street.

It was a good stay. Just a little bit far of the city but by bike it is ok. Nice district very quiet and beautiful houses. The room was clean and the service perfect. All the hotel team have done the best to make our stay the most pleasant. The continental breakfast was good. Lot of choice on jellys.

Amsterdam is definately a perfect city to bike on one of the hotel bikes, also in winter.
5 minutes to cycle to the Rijks Museum and plenty of nice cafes and bars to stop along the way every where in town when you have a look around in the Jordaan or go shopping.

With repect to the poor television quality, I hope you reported this to the frontdesk team during your stay. The hotel is a good budget hotel in a very nice neighbourhood a bit outside the city centre, but with easy access with tram 2 or even walking (about 20 min). The museumplein was only a 10 min walk away. Vondelpark is next to the hotel if one likes a run.
Only note is that the hotel has very steep steps going up to the rooms and no lift so if you have diffculties climbing stairs this is not your hotel.

I stayed on the 2nd floor in room 18. The room was nice and very quiet. Clean and had all the basic amenities you would need. I did not have breakfast, but it looked okay, normal hotel breakfast.
The bed was a bit on the soft side for me, but then again this is a matter of taste and did not distrub my sleep. You could see some wear and tear, but also some efforts of redecoration. The staff was helpful and efficient.

All in all I would recommed this hotel to anyone who does not mind steep stairs and is looking for a nice budget hotel.

Room Tip: My room was on the 2nd floor and was very quiet
