The 3 star RHO hotel is just off one corner of the square on Nes. At one point, the building used by an old Amsterdam gold trading company and what is now the lobby and reception were once a theatre, built in 1908 in Art-Deco style. The balcony on the first floor offers a great view over the lobby.

The room itself was a reasonable size but rather dark.
The bathroom came with some sachets of shampoo and shower gel. I stayed here about seven years ago and the rooms are starting to look a little tired. My room was backing on to the lift shaft and it did get a bit annoying especially at night. In general, the soundproofing in the room wasn’t that great.
The room came with free Wi-Fi access and a safe. There were no tea/coffee making facilities but there was an empty fridge for your own drinks Apparently you could ask for hot drinks at reception. There are also vending machines in the lobby area.

There was a reasonable choice at breakfast the next morning; salmon, cheese, cereal, tinned fruit, yoghurt, bacon, scrambled eggs, tea, coffee and orange juice.

On check out, bags can be left at the hotel in a locked room. This was a lot better than many hotels I've stayed at were bags a just left in a corner of reception.

no AC, again par for this class of hotel, room was a bit dark ( window opened to side of a building) but overall satisfied. very clean and functional bathroom, price was great at 99Euros/night.

We stayed Friday 27th and Saturday 28th June, I found everything about the place to be of a high standard. I made the reservation direct with the hotel - on the reccomendation of a friend - which made things simple and straight forward in that respect.

The hotel is in an excellent location within walking distance of most attractions and many great bars/restaurants and cafe's, yet as it is on side street is very quiet itself. The staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast is not too bad at all - cereal and fruit, fruit juice, tea and coffee and scrambled eggs and bacon - considering most hotels do not include any breakfast I don't think that's to be sniffed at!! Our room was an ample size for all the time we spent there, and was very clean and comfortable - the shower was particularly good!!! That's important to me and I am sure many others too!!!

All in all I cannot think of any negative points to this hotel and would highly reccomend it to anyone!

Having stayed here for the 3rd or 4th time over the years I have to say the Rho is getting much better.
The rooms seem to have had a touch up and now appear much cleaner and brighter.
The staff at reception are friendly and helpful as ever.
Breakfast - well its edible and plentiful.
THe location is the selling point - very good.
