Rho hotel is in a good location, but rather expensive when considering the room (and their thin walls), but as they say; location, location, location. Will most likely stay there for the next trip too, in case will be there again. City is nice and compact and with a card for the public transportation (mostly used trams) easy to move around. Everything is actually in walkind distance, if you feel like walking...

Just returned after spending 4 nights here with 3 other friends. Best thing about the hotel is definitely the location. Right on Dam square and within easy walking distance of everything in the city. Very easy to find from the train station. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, though could be extremely busy at times. We were allocated 2 twin rooms for our stay. While the room I was in was a decent size and with good storage facilities, two of my friends were in a much smaller room with not much wardrobe space. Both rooms included a free safe in the room. Although the hotel is not fancy it is extremely clean and that combined with the location make it ideal for a short stay in Amsterdam. The only negative thing I found is that our room was far too warm. We left the heating off for our stay and often had the window open. The weather when we were here was absolutely freezing, so it is only a small complaint. Overall would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

My friends and I have just spent four nights here and we had a lovely time. The city is great and so easy to walk around especially having this hotel as a base. It's really central, easy to get to from the station and having Dam Square on the doorstep as a landmark is ideal. The hotel itself is a bit dated but perfectly comfortable and clean which is all you really need for a few nights. Our room was pretty small with nowhere really to put our clothes other than a few hangers but we managed just fine and having a free to use safe in the room was appreciated. It is a bit of a warren with many stairs and corridors but it will keep you fit. The staff were all friendly and willing to help. The breakfast room was incredibly busy but for a basic choice it was absolutely fine. I would certainly go back and recommend to others.

My wife and I stayed at the Rho for four nights in March 2013. We arrived at 8.30am after a long flight from Australia and were delighted to be given our room straight away. The front desk staff were helpful and our room was clean, quiet and had a comfy bed. The buffet breakfast was great and the location of the Hotel outstanding. We loved it and would stay again without hesitation.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room and it was brilliant

Whoever said this hotel is clinging to its 3rd star is absolutely right. The lobby reminds me of something I'd find in a forgotten 3rd world country: hints of a previous glamour, but way past it's prime. Furniture is severely outdated and in dome instances covered w slip covers to hide a multitude of sins. Amenities come from vending machines. Room furniture is super-basic, walls are paper thin.

All that said, I will say that the rooms are whistle-clean. And the location probably can't be beat: truly central. Staff truly wants to be helpful. I was very disappointed in this hotel for the price, but when I reminded myself what others in the area cost, I swallowed the pill. I definitely won't stay here again, but I'll confess the hotel served its purpose of putting is in a clean room in a central location.

We have stayed last year and decided to return as the location was great and it did the job. This year we arrived at 8pm ( hotel was informed of our arrival time) to be told rudely that our booking was cancelled. The man on reception was rude and told us that our room was gone and suggested we find somewhere else to stay for that night and come back tomorrow as they had plenty of rooms. I asked him was he having a laugh and i received a response. I AM NOT JOKING rather rudely. Cancelling the room if this is hotel policy is one thing but to be spoken to in such a horrible off handed way was very distressing. And leaving to women to walk out into the night with nowhere to stay is behond belief.
