“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2012

RHO is a good budget hotel which provides excellent value for money in a good location. The hotel doesn't give a good first impression, the lobby looks a bit worn and it is need of some freshening up. But my room on the second floor across from the elevator appeared to be recently remodeled, and was excellent! There was new carpeting, new furnishings, walls were freshly painted, and a new bed. The room faced the courtyard, and I had no issues with noise. The price can't be beat, especially if you book well in advance via the hotel's site, and it includes a free hot breakfast buffet which was excellent! Location is excellent right off Dam Square...in the middle of all the action. Next time I'm looking for a budget hotel in Amsterdam I would not hesitate to stay again.

This hotel was lovely and in a very central location within walking distance of everything. The walls are rather thin which meant that if other guests on the same or higher floors were noisy there was a high chance of them waking you. The hotel is very warm, don't turn on the rad and do open the window for a nice night's sleep. We had a room at the back of the hotel and it was very quite, only noise from ouside was chatting during the day as there is a bike-hire place there. Breakfast was lovely, small selection of juices but otherwise perfect. Very impressive reception area with lovely staff who have excellent english. Luggage storage the day we left was very useful.

We have just stayed at this hotel and have found it very good. The staff are very friendly especially the gentleman who checked us in on Friday morning!! the rooms are basic but very clean and have a TV and a small fridge, tea and coffee making facilities would have been good but maybe that's an english thing!! you can get tea and coffee from a vending machine in reception. The breakfast was EXCELLANT! a good choice of hot and cold dishes, I reccomend the hot fluffy pancakes with 'stroop' sryup scrambled eggs and bacon!! another great service this hotel offers is baggage hold, so even though you have to check out by 11am and your flight or other onward travel is not until later in the day this hotel will safely and securely hoold your luggage for you to collect later at no extra cost!! I will definately stay at this hotel again when i'm next in Amsterdam and would reccomend it 100% to all my friends and fellow travellors.

Stayed here a while back and was pleasantly surprised by room and availability of lift!! Anyone who has stayed in central Amsterdam will be familiar with the tall narrow buildings that require climbing many flights of stairs to reach your bedroom. The rooms in Rho Hotel were very clean, but still on the small side. Although just off Dam Sq it was very quiet at night and we slept well. Breakfast was lovely with a great variety and staff were very friendly.

Within walking distance of many attractions, shops, restaurants, bars and train station. Would definitely stay here again.

I have stayed here a few times and its in a great location, just the other side of Dam Square. Very reasonable and impressive interior, rooms are great and as you go to your room you have a view from a balcony area down on to reception. Nice friendly little bar area and big breakfast area set aside in the morning - typical Dutch breakfast which is more than sufficient for the day ahead.

We have stayed in this hotel many times, and have booked again for this year. It has everything you need. Ideal location, cracking breakfast and clean rooms. On the down side some rooms are a little poky but as we don't spend much time in there it's not a problem.

Room Tip: Just ask, the staff are more than happy to help!

Stayed here in April 2011 and was amazed at the location and quality.

The room we got had 2 singles, very nicely sized room (be warned we did hear from some guests that their rooms were on the small side)... breakfast was very good with a whole selection of packed goodies, so if you felt the urge you could always take something back to your room.

We were lucky enough to be at the back of the hotel so it was extremely quiet, but again, we spoke to a couple of people who said their rooms were either at the front and got noise from the street or were by the lift.

All in all a good hotel, pretty good value for money with it's central location, but I would not say this is a budget hotel.

Can be pricy, but that's the price you pay for such a great location.

We would often go back to our room for a quick nap early evening and then wonde the streets in the early hours right through till dawn.

Down sides were:

Safe did not work, neither did the fridge (we actually locked out belongings in the fridge as it has a lock on it???? god knows why)

Bin in room is tiny.... and I would opt to take my case down to central station rather than leave it in the store room, as with many hotels in Amsterdam (this one is not the exception) when you come to get your case they suddenly slap an additional bill on you claiming damages were found in your room or the room was overly dirty.

But apart from that not a bad hotel at all.

Room Tip: Go for rooms at the back of the hotel, far more quiet than the front
