This is the first time I have ever written a review for ANYTHING online so trust me when I say that you will be thoroughly impressed with your stay at Hotel Fita. I stumbled upon this hotel while searching for a comfortable, quaint and reasonably priced place to stay during my trip to Amsterdam. The hotel profile online fit the bill and my experience there confirmed all that I had hoped it would be. The rooms were immaculate, the staff were lovely and there were so many little things that made the stay so pleasant. They had free wireless, a printer and laundry service. All of these things are so appreciated, especially in the event you need to check something quickly online but don't want to pay several Euro in order to do so. The breakfast also was spectacular. I would have been perfectly pleased with a basic breakfast, but they always had a hot dish prepared, fresh breads, cheese, yogurt, cereal and of course juice and coffee to start the day off just right. There are dozens of other amenities that while straightforward were much appreciated during my stay. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a lovely place to stay that is within walking distance to so many local treasures and hot spots. I will never stay anywhere but here during my future visits to Amsterdam.

We just returned from a 5-night stay at the Hotel Fita in Amsterdam. The location, near the Van Gogh Museum (quiet, safe, on public transportation), the helpful owners and hotel staff, the breakfast buffet with fresh squeezed orange juice and all the other perks (free international calls, free internet, free laundry service, small but serviceable elevator) made this a perfect choice. If you choose a smaller room, Hans will store your luggage. We would stay here again and will recommend it to our friends!

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Fita for three nights. As many have said, the hotel is in an excellent location and many sights are within walking distance. Our room was on the ground floor and was very spacious. We found our room clean and tidy and the owners very hospitable.

We thought Hans had a very good breakfast, although the oranges do run out if you're the last down in the morning. We found both Hans and Loes very friendly and easy to talk to. Hans makes it a point to talk to everyone when they come for breakfast. Loes suggested some very nice restaurants in the area and we enjoyed talking with her and her daughter. Unlike other posts here, we found Loes very friendly and a real treat to talk to!

The only negative we experienced was with the maid service. We put the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door (we don't like having maids come in our room for short stays) and found that when we came back, the maid had been in and made up the room. We thought that maybe we had forgotten to put the placard up, but the following day she again came into the room. We asked her not to clean our room, but she didn't seem to understand. It was our last night, so we didn't bother saying anything to Hans.

We would stay here again, and would recommend this to our friends.

My husband and I had one of the large rooms with a little sitting area that looks out over the schoolyard across the street.

We had a king-size bed with two twin-sized duvets beneath a king-size bedspread--not standard U.S. practice. But based on our experiences during the previous two weeks driving around Germany and Switzerland, putting two twin-sized duvets on a double bed was standard at all the B&Bs we stayed at. This was also the case in the private home of our German host couple.

We felt that the room was always well cleaned. During a 6-day stay, the only comment we would make is that it took two days for wine glasses to be removed from the room. Now, you should also know how the wine glasses got there: One of the staff members brought us wine and nuts on our first night because we arrived late in the evening like "basket cases" after a six-hour drive from Germany that should have taken three hours. Adriaan took great pity on us and brought up that little treat, which was so, so welcome.

We met the owner and, as a very hearty Dutchman, he can definitely seem a bit larger than life. But he was perfectly pleasant and very helpful.

Now let me tell you more wonderful things about Hotel Fita: a friendly staff that is there to please you; free use of a computer for Internet access just outside the breakfast room; free--yes, free--laundry service (can you imagine how wonderful that was for us after traveling for two weeks?); a lovely buffet breakfast; steps from the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, and well-located for walking anywhere in the Centrum; and a resident wire-haired dachshund named Bella who will cheer all guests who are missing their pups at home.

In our opinion, you can't go wrong with Hotel Fita.

We were very disappointed in our stay at this hotel. After reading the reviews a few months ago I booked us there for only two nights. This is the only time Trip Advisor was wrong. I think the review before that last hit it right. The WIFE has a real attitude when you question her about anything.. I was told by travel agent we had a room with balconey. NOT. and she insisted that we did not and if we didn't like it too bad. Hans the husband said from now on they will chanrge an extra 10 euro for those rooms. Folks we paid 185 euros per night and I almost cry when we were shown rooms near Central Station.. Hotel Victoria would of charged us only 145 euros.. Since we were there on Sunday and Monday..I think that these people are so full of themselves.. You get that idea once you talk to them..It's a take it or leave it attitude..I thought the breakfast was okay but the rooms leave alot to be desired.Dirty and old old old. Paper mitts for face cloths and soap dispensers on the wall. My husband's boss cancel her two rooms in the allowed time but the wife still charge her one night. We loved Amsterdam. We will come back but not here..

  • Liked — nothing
