“Excellent Service, Great Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2014

My wife and I couldn't ask for more from Hotel Fita. It is just a small hotel, but everything you need is there. The location is excellent, with schools, museums and luxury shops in its vicinity. It is just the right distance from where the action is. Practically 5-10 mins by tram. The major museums (Rijks and Van Gogh) are a 2-5 minute walk away. Roel and the whole staff know everything there is to know about Amsterdam and they are so friendly and helpful. The value is hard to beat also. You get a lot more than what you pay for. There are not enough nice things to say about Hotel Fita. I'd love to go back to Amsterdam, and if we do, we would definitely stay at Hotel Fita.

Its hard to add more to what other reviewers have noted, perfect location in the Museum district, lovely staff, sumptuous breakfast and we had the best room in the hotel overlooking a quiet street with a balcony.

The only thing I would add is how to get to the hotel - there is a direct bus from Schipol airport to and from the hotel. The 197 bus goes from just outside arrivals and in 20 minutes you are outside the Museum quarter and on the doorstep of the hotel - by far easier than the train into centraal and then another tram or bus, far quicker than a taxi. Hope this helps.

Normally when you arrive at a hotel to find the lobby crawling with drywall installers you brace yourself for a horrible stay. The strikingly genuine and helpful staff reassured me the mess would be done by the evening. And within hours it was transformed. Admittedly the rooms are not luxurious or the latest design, and elevator small etc. But the bed was stunningly comfortable. The hotel extremely clean, the breakfast incredibly good. Most interesting was how friendly and genuinely helpful and warm the staff was. I have stayed in 450 euro a night hotels who could learn about customer care from Fita. Perfect quiet location but easy walk to busier areas.

We stayed at the Hotel Fita between Christmas and New Year and had a great time. This was our first visit to Amsterdam. Roel was really helpful beforehand, advising on the best ways to get to the hotel (we took the 197 bus at 4 euros each). The bus stop is at the end of the street thus only a few mins walk to the hotel. The hotel is family run and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. We had one of the bigger rooms as we were sharing with the kids and the space was ample and everywhere was spotless. Lovely, quiet street and despite being at the front, we heard barely any noise. Breakfast was great and we loved their pancakes, a must!

Location is excellent - a few mins walk from the museums (plus the handy supermarket in the museumplein) and 10-15mins away from shopping and canals etc. We walked everywhere as the city is so compact and there was no shortage of things to do or places to eat. Roel will advise on where to avoid! Make sure you get your tickets for museums in advance tho so you don't queue for hours! We loved our stay and can't wait to come back to Amsterdam and the Hotel Fita!

In Amsterdam for the first time. In town for a trade show. I chose this hotel after much searching and I am very happy to have chosen this property. The hotel is located in the museum district of the city. So, it is close to all of the museums. It is also close to Vonderpark. It is about 10 minutes walking distance to where the "action" starts and it is about 30 minutes walk from the central train station. But, there are plenty of public transportation nearby to take you to almost anywhere in the city. Tram 12 takes you very close to RAI Convention Center. It might seem a bit from the action but the location is very ideal for me because it is very quiet at night. The hotel is located next to a school so it is louder during the day. But, it does not bug me as I am gone during the day. As for the hotel itself, because it only has 15 rooms, it feels more like a big bed and breakfast than a hotel. There were doing some renovations during my stay, but that is fine. I have a single room. Like most European hotels, it is smaller but there is plenty of room for one. The smaller shower, however is something to get used to. There is an elevator but it is tiny. The room rate comes with breakfast. It is a nice spread and definitely a plus for travelers. The room also comes with free wi-fi and it seems to be secured to the hotel only. It is another welcome bonus. Most important, the hotel owner and his employees are very friendly and knowledgeable. They really make an effort to make you feel welcome. I find everything about this hotel to be welcoming and warm. Should I return, I will book this hotel again.

We just completed or third and four stays at Hotel Fita. This is an excellent small hotel. Located within walking distance of the Van Gogh and Rijs Museums and the Concertgebowe. Two tram stops are but a block away giving you access to the entire city. Roel and his fine staff will take very good care of you helping with reservations, tickets and general advice for the city. Their breakfast is the best in Europe....you MUST have their eggs and bacon in addition to their normal goodies. I was given the eggs recipe a few years ago and impress all of my visitors with it. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are beautiful. There is an elevator, not always the case with small hotels in Amsterdam. It is on a quiet street with a playground nearby. On recess the childrens' play sounds are a nice way to recover from jet lag or to lull yourself to sleep. They finish by noon so no impact on sleeping. The neighborhood is full of nice shops and eateries and Roel can recommend several to match your taste buds and wallet. My wife and I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. You must stay at Fita.

Room Tip: Every room is great.

Stayed at Hotel Fita over New Years. This is our third trip to Amsterdam so we wanted to get away from all the Dam Sq. area hassle and this was a perfect location. One block to the Riks, Van Gogh and modern museums, 2 blocks to concert hall, many restaurants in area, high-end shopping (Jimmy Choo like) on next street. This is a residential street so its a quiet neighborhood, feels like you are living among the locals. Great connections via # 2 or 5 tram to just about everything. Hotel is small (15 rooms I think) and cosy- we had a large room on 2nd floor. Simple furnishings but pleasant with plenty of room and large windows, large bathroom, everything we needed. Pleasant breakfast room on ground floor with nice selection and yummy Dutch Pancakes. The staff was wonderful - just like others said. Always smiling and asking what they can do. Gave us great advice on restaurants, transport, events. They really go out of their way to make you feel at home. Will definitely stay here next time in Amsterdam.
