“Recommended: although the rooms are a little tired and small”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

The staff at this hotel are first rate. Nothing is too much trouble, and they go out of their way to make you welcome. It's in a great position, close to the museums. Breakfast is excellent.
On the negative side our rooms were rather small and in need of some TLC, but this is a minor criticism.

Room Tip: All rooms appear to be the same price but vary in size: ask for a big one.

“Hotel fita”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012 via mobile

Very good hotel, very friendly. Located in quiet neighbourhood but within a few minutes easy walk of the busy parts of town and canal. Round the corner from the Reiksmuseum, but the van gough is closed for refurbishment until next march and its currently located at the hermitage museum. Rooms were big and had a nepresso machine (once you figured out how they worked). Clean, quiet, good breakfast. A little expensive but would recommend.

“Great Hotel, in a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

FITA is a great hotel in a great location! Staff was very kind and helpful (Roel and his family made us feel at home)! Our room was large, clean, comfortable and there were some itens you can hardly find in other hotels like Nespresso and umbrella. Breakfast is also great with pancakes. We hope to come back soon!

“Lots of good points”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

This hotel has been reviewed often and very positively, so the first thing to say is that those comments are well deserved. It is clean, quiet (we liked the occasional sounds of happy Dutch children that drifted in from the play area outside) and the owners and their helpers are, on the whole, very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent for us: close enough to walk to the centre of Amsterdam but far enough out to be quiet and peaceful. It's particularly convenient for the Rijksmuseum, which is just at the end of the road, and the very posh shops in PC Hoofstraat, which runs parallel.

Breakfast is lovely: perfect pancakes, good coffee and a nice selection of cereal with some options of hot food too. Our room was comfortable, with television, bath and shower, safe and kettle: all you could expect with the Nespresso machine a welcome extra.

So, why not 5 stars? This is where some readers may feel I'm being a little harsh and too influenced by staying in bigger hotels - that's certainly what the owner thought! But when we did ask for a few changes, which we thought were reasonable, this became a problem. We found the bedside lights too dim for reading, so asked for a stronger light - which was provided. The hairdrier would not turn on again if it was turned off - the owner did his best to fix it. But when we asked for some milk in our room at breakfast time, that was a step too far; the owner informed us pleasantly but firmly that there was a misunderstanding and this was not a five-star hotel. We got our milk but were left feeling a bit less welcome!

So I'll leave it up to you to decide: fussy guests with unrealistic expectations of a small hotel? - in that case give it five stars. If you think the owner should have been a bit more accomodating, or maybe explained at the beginning that a small staff inevitably would limit "room service", then maybe stick to four.

Room Tip: Our room, number 14, was a very pleasant twin double. Just be careful to close the window blinds in...

“A home away from home.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights while we explored Amsterdam. The location is great and the bus to and from the airport is just down the road. Room felt like a bedroom and less like a hotel room. Staff were beyond friendly and answer any questions. Breakfast is continental buffet, and the pancakes were yummy! It really did have a 'homely' feel to the place. All in all, you really couldnt ask for anything more from a hotel! They also store your luggage when checking out if you have a while until your flight home, which was really handy. Dont hesitate, book!
