“Lovely Hotel and great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2011

The staff at Hotel Fita were very friendly and appeared genuinely concerned about helping to make our vacation in Amsterdam a success. They were very informed about the area, where to go, when to go and how to access events. The hotel itself was very clean and had modern conveniences, yet still maintained dutch charm. The stairs were a work out, but that's Amsterdam!

Perfect location for museums and not too far from the Leidseplein, either. Friendly service.

Even the restaurant recommendations proved excellent. The owners are new, and making a full-time effort to meet every guest's needs. The location is very close to the museums and public transportation, and only a short walk from the heart of the city, but the street was quiet even on the weekend. The room was clean and comfortable, and the plumbing was the best we found in Holland.

Hotel Fita offers sparkling clean, huge rooms with attention to detail. I especially enjoyed the sense of humor displayed by the rubber duck on the tub! The brothers who run the hotel personify kindness and customer service. Located a couple of blocks from the Steidelijk Museum and a tram stop, and near the scenic and peaceful Vondelpark, the hotel offers a serene stay in a bustling city. Everything at this hotel is done with excellence, including the large buffet breakfast that includes their speciality pancakes (buttery and topped off with powdered sugar - delicious!).

Our stay at the Hotel Fita was a high point of our recent European trip. The Hotel is located in a quiet residential area very close to the Museums we had come to Amsterdam to visit. It was also within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants and tram access. Our room was more spacious than we expected, certainly more so than our rooms in London and Paris. The hospitality of the owners and staff was top notch and they deserve high praise for their warmth and concern for their guests. Being able to purchase Museum tickets at the Hotel saved us precious time by avoiding line-ups. The dining room was very pleasant and the selection of food was excellent ; the pancakes are not to be missed! This was our first trip to Amsterdam...we loved the city and marvelled at all the bicycles and relaxed way people went about their business. Staying at the Hotel Fita was the icing on the cake of a visit that was too short.

Stayed in may Band B like hotels and this was the best. Very clean, wonderful breakfast, always available to answer our many questions and went out of their way to accomidate our every need. Located in a very safe neighborhood with many great eating places within a 5 minute or less walk. 5 minutes to Van Gough and Rembrant Museums. Cheers to Ruel, Martin, and Mom for their hospitality. The Dianes.

Friendly, helpful staff. Appreciated Raol taking a few minutes upon check in to orientate me to the hotel's location in the city and highlighting areas of interest on map which he gave to me.

Cozy, clean single room w/a balcony. Served me well for the 8 nights that I spent at the hotel.

I was pleased with the location, near the Rijksmuseum, Van Gough, Vondelpark, The Leidseplein (15 min walk, good restaurants and night life), and much more. I found the Museumplein (a park area between museums) to be a nice place for lunch or in the evening to sit and chat (3 min walk from hotel).

Free laundry service was a definate pro. The fact that it was free made up for the lack of other amenities. Also the free wireless internet and free international calling were both added conveniences.

Breakfast was tasty. Especially their signature "pancakes". I had breakfast there 6 out of 8 mornings there.

Cons:
-Staff often in and out of room throughout the day. Even with "do not disturb" on door.

-Single bed mattress could have been more comfortable.

Those two reasons are why I took away one star giving it a 4 out of 5.

Overall, I would definately recommend this hotel.
