“Quaint Amsterdam Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

The Owl is a decent little hotel tucked back on a quiet street. The staff was extremely friendly and overall, the place was clean and well maintained. The rooms are a little dated but nothing that would prevent me from recommending it. The breakfast was good. Better than what is found in most US hotels as a "free" breakfast.

The front desk was always helpful with directions and suggestions for getting there. There is a KLM shuttle that will drop you off there from the Airport. I suspect you could jump on the Marriott shuttle too as that property is in front of this one.

We had easy access to the tram and were easy walking distance to great restaurants and food options.

My only complaint is the wifi only connects you for a few minutes at a time so you have to constantly re-authenticate to it. Annoying but not a disastrous.

The Owl Hotel is located behind the Marriot Hotel facing Leidseplein, near the entry of Vondelpark. It is 3 minutes by walk to leidseplein and tram. The staff is Friendly. The Breakfast is poor, the Rooms are old, the bed is clean but carpet, curtains are old but the price is cheap and the location is excellent.
Especially it will be a Good choice when prices are up due to fairs, congress and special days in Amsterdam.
As a frequent visitor of Amsterdam, I can recommend this Hotel to stay in the city when you will not need to spend time in the room.

My adult son and I spent ten days at the Owl Hotel in November. I found the hotel staff extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms clean, comfortable, and quiet. The location is almost perfect for those who wish to visit the major museums in Amsterdam.

Room Tip: My room was on the fourth floor facing the street, but noise was not a problem.

Hotel is old but in great shape and well maintained. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast was just enough to start the day. We enjoyed the comfortable lounge area just off the bar. The courtyard looked very nice but to cold to enjoy in in October. Our room was adaquite, not the Ritz. Well worth the price.

It was a great hotel in a good location right beside Vondel park. Staff was always very friendly and helpful. The room was a decent size with comfortable beds, although two singles pushed together would stay together better with a double sheet or something. But overall very nice rooms. The breakfast was perfect with fruit, toast, meats and cheeses. The hotel was very clean in a safe location. The bus and tram stops were just down the street and most markets and museums were in walking distance. There are lots of shops and restaurants around as well. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends.

Room Tip: We did not use the pool or fitness rooms so ignore those ratings. It was easy to get to from the a...

We chose The Owl Hotel because of good reviews and decent price and it more than met our expectations. It's located about two blocks from the stop for the 197 bus from the airport (4 euros per person, a bargain) and most the the major sites we wanted to see were withing walking distance. The staff is very helpful, recommending some small neighborhood restaurants that were reasonably priced and not touristy. There is a small elevator, simple but very clean rooms and an adequate breakfast which, along with the VAT, is included. The garden at the back is delightful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a well located hotel in Amsterdam at a decent price.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the garden are quiet, although the hotel is located on a street that is not busy.

Clean, friendly, quiet and very well located, however the decor and the breakfast were unimaginative although adequate. Worth the trade off if one is looking for a budget option.
Very close to museums, canal cruise, restaurants and shops.
