“Still very much a hotel with a personality!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

My second visit to this canal front house. Still a modest facade, a friendly face in the reception, and a steep and winding staircase - although only one floor up this time!
Breakfast in the room was not available this time either, unfortunately, but again a couple very nice breakfast/lunch places were recommended.
Good standard on the cleaning, good bathrooms. Nothing negative to say, really - just be aware that the stairs are long, winding and narrow, and may be a challenge to some!

Room Tip: Be sure to use the hotel's home page to select the room - and the floor - that suits you!

After visiting the Seven Bridges hotel's website and reading here all the excellent reviews about it here, I called to make a reservation - the owners of the hotel, Pierre and Günter, were so nice I could hear their smile via the telephone.
Due to the fact it is a small boutique hotel and not a commercialized chain, and because they were so very nice and patient with my several emails of questions, my partner and I decided to arrive at the hotel with a small bottle of wine as a token of our appreciation.

Upon arrival we found the hotel was everything we expected and more:
We stayed in Room 7 for a few nights and then in Suite C - Room 7 is spacious compared to Amsterdam's hotels standard (leaving out hotels that cost around the 600 euro per night) and Suite C is probably three times the size of the first.

Both rooms are absolutely beautiful and full of character - what lacks in most other hotels, IMHO.
Also both rooms have private bathrooms which is not obvious in Amsterdam.
The rooms are very clean. Every time we left the room it was cleaned - one time we even got back to the hotel at early noon, saw the room was cleaned, left the room again and when we came back in the evening we saw that it was cleaned again.

Location: The hotel is on a quiet street in dead-center of Amsterdam. It is about a minute walk from Rembrandt square, a short walking distance from every attraction in Amsterdam and is also a minute walk from most tram lines, if you're feeling lazy and don't want to walk.

Pierre and Günter were super-kind and welcoming and helped us with everything we needed - even after we've already checked out - always with a smile.
There was a little noise due to construction work in the building next to us, and even though we didn't complaint, or even said anything, they provided us with a delicious complimentary breakfast to the room as compensation and on another day they surprised us with a box of luxury Leonidas chocolates.

All-in-all I can say that this was probably the best experience I've ever had with any hotel. Will definitely return there when I'm in Amsterdam again.

Room Tip: Visit the hotel's website and look at all the rooms there, then choose the one you like the best...

Me and my boyfriend had a lovely stay at the seven bridges hotel. Walking distance to all tourist attractions and situated in quieter area next to a pretty canal. Room was perfect and plenty of space for 2 people, we had canal room B and it felt like a home from home. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a short stay in Amsterdam!

Stayed at this hotel nearly every time I've visited Amsterdam. Lovely antique furniture in very generous size rooms.
The location is perfect for those who want to be in the centre of the city without the hive of activity just outside the hotel. The price is very competitive and certainly earns this hotel the good reviews that it has been given.

Room Tip: Choose a back room for quiet, or front room for view.

If you prefer standard hotels this is not for you. This is more like a B&B experience and each room in the small hotel is different, all furnished with beautiful antiques, comfortable beds, adequate lighting, and small amenties. Those in the front overlook the canal, and those in the back a small garden area. Breakfast is served in some rooms. It is a 17th century house, so the stairs are steep, floor boards creak, and it can be noisy when neighbors come and go, but the charm far outweighs that. The owners, especially Gunter, are pleasant, helpful and eager to please guests. They have had this hotel for over 30 years. The photos on their website are very accurate. The beautiful location, a UNESCO world heritage site, enhances the experience. Very close to wonderful shops, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, tourist destinations, etc. You feel like you have your own apartment in Amsterdam when you stay here.

Room Tip: Canal room B, probably best for one person although it can sleep two, is on the first floor overlook...

I spent two nights at the awesome Seven Bridges Hotel. It feels more like you're staying at a local's house rather than a hotel which I appreciated. Everything was immaculately clean and the place is truly a living museum. The fantastic owner, Gunter, is very friendly and a true lover of history and antiques. Every piece in the rooms are actually expensive treasures he's collected over the years, open up any drawer and you'll most likely find a Sotheby's Auction certificate! Wifi was good and it's in a great location. Very reasonable prices too. Check out some more pics I took and a longer review of my stay here on my travel blog

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at this wonderful, individual hotel. If you want beautiful rooms with a non-corporate feel and hosts that are so helpful and attentive without being intrusive then you need look no further.
We stayed in the gorgeously appointed room no. 7 and after a day walking our legs off we would open the floor to ceiling windows and sit on comfortable antique French chairs and gaze out onto the sparkling waters of the canal. It felt unique and very Dutch.
After resting up, there were plenty of good cafes and restaurants within walking distance; we particularly enjoyed an Indonesian one in Utrechtstrasse and 'Nels' where one could enjoy just tea and cake in the afternoon or dinner in the evening sitting outside people watching and the locals playing boules.
There is so much of interest in Amsterdam and on our arrival we were thoughtfully provided with a map that had useful info. on such as a bakery and a supermarket.
Having travelled from London by train too it was so helpful to have info. on which trams to take and how many stops etc. One cannot fault their web-site which is a true reflection of the delights that await.
We certainly want to return. The only dilemma being should we go for No.7 again or one of the other beautiful rooms!
