“Amsterdam Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2014

We visited Amsterdam for 3 nights as a little treat for my birthday and chose Seven Bridges Hotel as we wanted a traditional Dutch hotel in a great location. We emailed a few months ahead, they were quick to respond stating which rooms were available. When we arrived we were not disappointed, it really is such a pretty hotel. They told us in advance the stairs were steep, and my word they are! But this added to the traditional feel of the building and made for some funny photos. We stayed in room 10, which was one of the cheapest rooms, it was right up in the attic and very quaint. However it was the only place I couldn't get wi-fi. The room was basic, there wasn't a safe or tea making facilities but it provided what we needed. The hotel is in such a great location. We were originally looking at Leidseplein but Rembrandt Plein is far nicer. On arrival Pierre gave us a map and highlighted where things were (the bakery in V&D he pointed out is amazing). It's very close to bike hire, Starbucks, lots of cafés and restaurants. We were able to walk to Vondel Park, Red Light District, Leidseplein, Dam Square all from the hotel. Jordaan was quite a walk but still doable. Pierre was such a pleasure the whole time. Extremely helpful telling us the weather and allowing us to print our boarding passes, he even sent up a bottle of champagne as it was my birthday. They also provided us with a light complimentary breakfast on our last morning. Pierre, Gunter and Erik pride themselves on customer service which is so natural, there is no 'fakeness'. They are just very nice, polite gentlemen. We would definitely recommend this hotel, it is a little treasure.

Room Tip: We did have a nosey in some of the other rooms. Room 5 seems very nice, big and has a outside seatin...

Like so many others, we loved the Seven Bridges Hotel. First of all the location is fantastic - it's quiet but yet so close to many areas within easy walking distance. The hotel is beautiful, small but our room (garden room #5) was huge with a little outside sitting area. We arrived after our overnight flight from Vancouver and happily the hotel staff let us into our room, which was such a surprise. The bed was comfortable, and the room had beautiful antiques in it. We didn't eat breakfasts in the hotel, there were several great restaurants within a block that we took advantage of. I can not recommend this hotel enough - don't debate it any longer - just book it and look forward to a lovely hotel.

Room Tip: We loved garden room 5 which was large, had an outdoor patio and quiet.

We stayed for three nights in early July 2014 and had a wonderful time despite quite a lot of rain. The hotel is not just very attractive but quirky with it. Very old, making excellent use of antique but immaculate furniture. And, yes, the stairs are narrow, particularly towards the rooms in the roof but we managed easily with our cases and we are 'getting on'! An excellent breakfast is served in your room with lots of tea or coffee. We are definitely going to stay there again and have already recommended it to our friends. The owners/staff are charming and very helpful. NOT TO BE MISSED!

Your review details ask if this is a 'classic' hotel - I've put no because it's more than that and because of its quirky nature!

Room Tip: Rooms on the 'garden side' are probably quieter but you would miss the view of the canal and...

This is a gem of a hotel within view of the 7 bridges. It is for people who want a place to stay which is unique. It is in a beautiful situation, close to everything but far enough away to be private. Our garden suite had a lovely view of the garden and was furnished with antiques. The management was friendly and accommodating . The reception room was filled with vases of lilies which perfumed the air upon entry to the front door.In short an amazing and charming find.

Room Tip: look on their website.

How to do justice to our 7 night stay at Seven Bridges? I am resorting to plagiarism. A Dijon couple wrote [google translation] in 2009 "It is undeniable that the quality and success of our stay is largely due to our accommodation". YES! Seven Bridges is a house, a lovingly restored and decorated very very old Amsterdam canal house. The traditional hospitality practiced by Gunter and Pierre ensure that when you are a guest in this house, it is your home. The house is Amsterdam, the decor is a divesity of beauty. Of a myriad of delights, I note the Corneille print on the stairwell by room 5, the little garden outside room 3, and starting each day with Pierre's smile and his beautiful breakfasts.

Places in Amsterdam that we became especially attached to: L'Express Restaurant at Utrechtsestraat 29 [4 minute walk]; the Stedelijk Museum and the Eye Museum. We had very high expectations of Seven Bridges, it exceeded our dreams.

This is a magnificant, very special place. Definitely the most beuatiful place I have every stayed in. Located close to Rembrandt's Plain and yet very quiet. Rooms are very beautifully decorated, and very clean. Staff is wonderful - warm and extremely helpful. HIghly and warmly recommended.

Room Tip: If you come as a couple ask for the larger rooms. If bothered by climbing ask for the lower floors...

This is possibly one of nicest hotels I have been in since I have been coming to Amsterdam. the staff are wonderful, the food is great and the rooms are so clean.
It is situated not too far from the city centre but there are convenient trams to get about quickly if needed.
Passengers had a really great time here... i's not too close to the "CENTRE" of Amsterdam ... which is the only part of the City which lets it down, If they were to get rid of the druggies they would have probably the best City in Europe.......... such a shame. But the Hotel "Great ".
