“charming, centrally located canal house”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

a friend and i had the good fortune to stay 5 nights in october in this extraordinary beautifully restored canal house hotel. the two owners, pierre and gunther, were very accommodating and always wanting you to feel comfortable/welcome. they were as charming as the hotel. we stayed in room #5 which was very large with a large bathroom that opened up onto a balcony which had a patio table set. the room had some interesting antique pieces and the fireplace mantle always had fresh roses. the hotel is 300 yrs. old and the rooms that we saw were all very tastefully decorated with distinctive personalities. hotel is in a wonderful location and one can walk to many places of interest or hop on the tram which is a very short walk. we took a day trip to haarlem and the train station was easily accessible. look forward to staying there again and would look no further for a place to stay as it is quite perfect. paula in kentucky, usa

Room Tip: room #5 was quite large and faced the backyard which was quiet. very comfortable.

“Look no further.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

...for a wonderful, restored canal house in a great section of Amsterdam, near everything, and with all the charm and comforts aforementioned on this forum. Pierre was the perfect host, always available for some tips and friendly talk. My husband and I always look for boutique accommodations, and privacy, so Seven Bridges was perfect.....we never stay at proper B&B's where you must eat breakfast with people you do not know, and this canal house has one of the best breakfasts we have had! The fresh breads, scones, croissants.....fruit, yogurt, cheese & breakfast meat, nevermind the perfect "American-style" coffee (the local variety could choke a horse, lol). We had so much food we made a sandwich to take on the plane that was big enough for two! We were in room 6, canal side and it was perfect for 2, lovely bathroom, very nice double windows and comfy furniture, required after walking Amsterdam all day. The staircase was one of our favorite parts, not seen anything like that before, and it was completely navigable and we are in our mid-sixties. It was similar to a lighthouse winding stairway, but carpeted! Perfect place for couples, we also liked the no small children policy and the frankness and no-BS website and emails. You know exactly what you are getting, and that is quite a bit for what we thought was a very reasonable price. Thanks Pierre, Gunter and Eric. I will not forget the shock on Pierre's face when I pulled him down for a cheek-kiss goodbye! Loved Amsterdam, and Seven Bridges.

“romance, art and a lot of fun in Amsterdam”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

First of all, I would never feel the real historical, romantic atmosphere of Amsterdam if I stayed anywhere else. When we joined the canal boat tour and we were told about the history of Amsterdam and those historical canal houses we were sure that it would have been a regret if I did not choose Seven Bridges. Because you are in fact in the heart of those intersecting seven bridges which gives the city it's soul.To live and breath the atmosphere of such a history and romance is a bonus in such a beautiful canal house and its a privilege if you look over the canal view and if you stay at canal room 6 like we did. Amsterdam is a city full of museums in which you can experience both art and fun with a wide range of kinds. Are you an art lover would you like to see the paintings of Rembrandt and Vermeer you must visit Rijskmuseum or Van Gogh museum which are partly open but will be opened 100% from 2013 on. Would you like to have fun then you can take the chance to experience the beer producing while being the bottle yourself in Heineken experience or you can learn about the dark side of the Amsterdam torture history with Dungeons(so funny). Sex museum and hush museums are also worth visiting. Red light area always gives opportunities of seeing a different world other than yours so don't miss that opportunity! Anne Frank house, Tuschinsky Theatre, Madamme Tussauds,The Old churh and New Churh,Volendam, Open Floating Flower Market, Vondelpark, are other things to see in Amsterdam.
When you return to your hotel after a loaded itinerary and listen to classical music in a room full of antiques and fresh flowers besides the canal your soul will be purified from all the negatives in your life. The hotel manager Gunter is a real Turkey and Istanbul lover who stole our heart with his chummy, intellectual chat everyday. Unfortunately we could'nt be able to meet Pierre he was on a trip to the Caribbean islands but we are sending our best regards to him and thank him a lot for accepting :-) us to Seven Bridges Hotel after all those e-mails regarding the exotic staircase, which is breathtakingly steep and extremely narrow (look at FAQ in the web site) in your hotel. Thank you very very much for making us feel like we are having our second honeymoon, we fell in love with your hotel and city full of romance, art and a lot of fun.....

Room Tip: canal view room 6 is recommended has a refrigerator, a big enough bathroom with comfy bed.

“Interesting place to stay. Excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Well located, with many restaurants and cafes close by. The rooms make this a very interesting place to stay when in Amsterdam. Each room is done up in the traditional style with rich carpets and drapes. Lots of warm colours. The furniture is great too. Old antiques jostle with a modern LCD TV.
The wardrobe a couple of centuries old, with lovely inlay work, even had it's details and price (ahem) written on a sheet of paper inside.
The patio was gorgeous. Made for lazy breakfasts.

On the service, the hotel administration was quick and responsive though I also found them a bit distant (might just be the contrast in service when compared to hotels in India where the staff wants to get to know you and about your day :-)

Room Tip: See all the photographs on the website each room is very different. Book well in advance if stairs a...

“La petite mort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

"A little death", is what i would describe as the postmorterm of a breathtaking experience, an intellectually, as well as spiritually rivetting experience, where for a moment in time, you are out of your body, in another time. I lived through different centuries, different castes, different styles, different points of view. Enveloped by pieces from different eras, An ''intercenturial experience'' i might dare to call it. This is just but the esoteric refference, the review that my soul would not rest unless i shared....
The more rational, idealistic review would allow me to reveal that this hotel is impeccably situated, a minute's walk to the action. Beautiful canals just a stone throw away( thus the name; the seven bridges ) Hearty, well read, travelled and experienced hosts, prepared to share the towns secrets,as far as locations in the city, as well as absolutely must-trys are concerned. Pierre and Günther also offer a simple pleasant chat when intruige steps in their way..
It is clean, it is intellectually and visually stimulizing, it is absolutely pleasant..I enjoyed my stay here and only regret that i cannot have it at least seven days a week... :)
It should not be left out that parking in this busy city is absolutely chaotic, and expensive.!There are several park houses where you can enjoy cheap and practical parking. They are called P+R (park and ride) where you pay 8 Euros per day as well as attain a days metro pass. The Tram station is about five minutes walk away from the hotel. Very practical, if you do not fear to ask incase you are unsure of yourself.
I enjoyed Amsterdam, i hope u all do as well..
I dont work here btw.
