“Great Romantic charming Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

This charming hotel is on a pretty canal, filled with antiques and persian rugs. There are 11 rooms each with either a garden or canal view. We had the top floor with a birds eye view as they call it with a stunning view of the canal. Quiet and like a hide a way. The rooms were immaculate The bathroom was large enough. They will serve you breakfast in the room which was wonderful.
They did assist with our luggage as there was not a elevator.
The staff could not have been more helpful. If you are looking for a charming romantic hotel, this is the one! Make your reservations directly with the hotel as they all speak english and they are very quick with answering your emails as well as being very polite and helpful. The rates are equally better by contacting the hotel directly.
Hope we can return one day.
ENJOY!!!!
Thank you Pierre, Gunter and Eric for a wonderful 4 days

Had a very happy stay at the Seven Bridges just when I needed some peace and quiet the most. The canal view from the bedroom was ideal. The decor is unusual - and all the better for it with the collection of antique furniture so rarely found in other identikit places. They don't do breakfasts - but there are plenty of cafes nearby so this shouldn't be a deal-breaker. The location just away from all the mayhem of Amsterdam is ideal.

The decor and charm of the hotel and rooms make it a special place to stay. Our room had €4k sitting chairs in it.
The feel of the place goes beyong the decor.
We were surprised when they provided us a non-requested wake up call 'just in case' we slept in and missed or plane. The wake up call was a free breakfast!.
Can't recommend it highly enough. The only issue was that Amsterdam trams don't know the area well enough to provide you with the right tram to catch, even though it's listed on tourist brochures (it is 150m down the canal/road off the southeast corner of Rembrantplein, where the tram stops).

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful. Stairs are steep, but the higher rooms have a great outlook.

This hotel is in a great location as a base to explore Amsterdam. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and the staff was helpful when we asked them questions. Thankfully, we did not stay upstairs, because the staircase is VERY steep. If this is a problem, ask for a room on the main floor. I loved Amsterdam so much and will definitely be back. Just an FYI, there is a coffeshop directly next store to the hotel. This shouldn't bother too many people since it is Amsterdam...but some people may want to know this. Overall, I highly recommend Seven Bridges.

We Loved and Hated the Seven Bridges

The location is really great. Couldn't be much better. It is a very short walk to Rembrandt Square and many restaurants located in all directions. It is an easy walk to most of the museums and places tourists want to see. If you are into vegetarian or Indonesian food, Seven Bridges is well located.

The view out our window overlooking the canal and street corner was wonderful. The antique furniture was interesting and gives the place character. The owner couldn’t be nicer or more accommodating. The place has an old world charm that is tough to match.

Our room had a small refrigerator, basic utensils and a coffee/tea-making appliance.

I assume all canal houses have really steep staircases. I thought the one we stayed in last year was steep. The staircase to our room at Seven Bridges couldn’t be any steeper and have people climb it without ropes. Any more than a light, small suitcase is going to be a challenge.

The bed was … the type you want for guests in your home. Good enough for a night, maybe two and after that your guests want to move on. It was a foam mattress over a steel frame that seriously sags in the middle of each side (rail down the center). Without our traveling foam roller and yoga each morning, I don’t know if we could have survived the bed.

No breakfast. In our European experiences, breakfast has usually been included. Breakfast included with rooms is so common; we didn’t even think to ask before we came.

Mosquitoes. This was the worst. The proprietor gave us a little warning about using the screens when the windows are open due to mosquitoes, which we did religiously. The only exception was the little window over the shower that we left open when showering. Can’t figure out how they got in but there were mosquitoes buzzing and biting us every night. We left with a dozen bites each with half of them on the head, neck and face. Bring a mosquito coil.

Cab drivers didn’t know the place so be sure to know the address to provide cab drivers.

The street was very noisy very late at night with intoxicated people (mostly males). There is a coffeeshop right next door and maybe the noise was people leaving when it closed. It was annoying and funny at the same time. It didn’t last long but it was every night.

Even though The Seven Bridges is charming and very well located, I doubt we would stay there again.

A typican canal front house, a modest facade in an area that reeks of history and tradition! A friendly face in the reception, a steep and winding staircase leading up to room 9 at the very top of the house. Gotta love the personality this place has!
Unfortunately, breakfast in the room was not available during our stay (due to staff shortage), but a couple very nice breakfast/lunch places were recommended, not more than 10 minutes' walk away.
Good standard on the cleaning, good bathrooms. Nothing negative to say ay all, really - just be aware that the stairs are long, winding and narrow, and may be a challenge to some!

This is a small hotel with lots of personality in each room. Make sure you ask the owner for recommendations for dining. We spent 2 nights in cold rainy December. The location was perfect for being able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The room was a wonderful warm place to rest our weary feet at the end of the day. Many restaurants are an easy walk. We overlooked the canal and the owner is fun to talk to about the history of the hotel, his renovations and the history of his antique/art furnishings.
