“A hotel with a personality!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

A typican canal front house, a modest facade in an area that reeks of history and tradition! A friendly face in the reception, a steep and winding staircase leading up to room 9 at the very top of the house. Gotta love the personality this place has!
Unfortunately, breakfast in the room was not available during our stay (due to staff shortage), but a couple very nice breakfast/lunch places were recommended, not more than 10 minutes' walk away.
Good standard on the cleaning, good bathrooms. Nothing negative to say ay all, really - just be aware that the stairs are long, winding and narrow, and may be a challenge to some!

This is a small hotel with lots of personality in each room. Make sure you ask the owner for recommendations for dining. We spent 2 nights in cold rainy December. The location was perfect for being able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The room was a wonderful warm place to rest our weary feet at the end of the day. Many restaurants are an easy walk. We overlooked the canal and the owner is fun to talk to about the history of the hotel, his renovations and the history of his antique/art furnishings.

We spent 3 nights at the Seven Bridges while visiting Amsterdam in early July. The hotel is actually a small converted "Canal House". The location is perfect, right by the canal and near to the center of things while still being in a quiet location. The room was beautifully decorated with antique furnishings, and the management was helpful and friendly. Our room had a pleasant little outside terrace, perfect for sitting outside with a pre-dinner drink.
The only possible drawback (not for us) might be the steep, winding staircase providing access to the upstairs rooms. These staircases are an architectural feature of the classic Amsterdam Canal House, but might be difficult for an elderly person to negotiate.

This small hotel is really more like a B&B with personal attention and quirky but comfortable ambiance. We stayed in Room C in their adjacent building so we did not get the breakfast, however we did get a room with two separate sleeping areas which was ideal for our family of three. The room was clean, comfortable, and very quiet--even though it overlooks the canal. There are wonderful restaurants around the corner on Utrechtstraat, including a great juice place and a huge Starbucks on the very busy Rembrandtplein just a block away, which were perfect for breakfast. There's also a very good Italian restaurant on the corner where we ate two nights! We didn't have much interaction with the hosts (by our own circumstances) but when we did they were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is very convenient to two tram stops but is also within walking distance of most major attractions. Overall a lovely place, well-located, and excellent value for your money, particularly if you want to have the Amsterdam canal house experience. Highly recommended!

Absolutely charming, thoughtfully appointed, well-priced and well-located property in the canal zone with easy access to public transportation. Accommodating innkeepers/owners iced the cake. After two weeks in northern europe, staying in comparably or slightly higher-priced properties, this was the prize winner. Unhesitatingly recommended!

For our wedding anniversary, we treated ourselves to our first visit to Amsterdam and were thoroughly captivated by the city. Seven Bridges was part of the magic - beautiful building in an excellent location, and efficient, considerate hosts. From here we were able to walk to everything of interest, and although it is situated on a quiet, peaceful stretch of canal, busy Rembrantplein is only steps away. Even the much-maligned stairs added to the ambience! This hotel is a true gem, and we will certainly be back!

Room Tip: Room 6 with canal view was superb.

Previous reviewers have used all the superlatives, so I can only echo them. The owners/managers were the most pleasant can be found - anywhere. Yes, they advertise that they are not able to help carry your luggage up the Dutch stairwell; however, if it is obviously necessary they will do so cheerfully.

Room Tip: Initially we worried about noise, but canal side rooms were quiet!
