Terrific hostel...but the single rooms are pretty overpriced...57 euros and you have to make your own bed and pay an extra 4 E just for a towel. I was also a bit surprised at the fact that they charge full price when they were painting the stairs handrails making the five flights of stairs a very smelly experience. All in all I'd get a cheap hotel next time instead.

This hostel was awesome.
We went in winter so it wasn't exactly bustling, but still very convenient. The beds and dorms were clean. The had massive lockers that can fit a backpackers bag in easily. 5 minute walk to the red light district.
Right on the canal.
Breakfast was great considering it was free buuuut I wouldn't recommend eating there if you wanted authentic ditch cuisine... But the option of eating cheap and/or free is nice :).
Staff were lovely and vey helpful, they will tell you what tours are the best and give you discounts off bookings. Showers are excellent, no problem with hot water or pressure.
Overall I had a great time at this hostel.

Ive stayed in many hostels over the years and this one is up there amongst the best. friendly, helpful staff. free brekky. clean rooms and a bar, wifi (albeit in bar/resaturant area only). As long as you dont mind bunk bed style and a few bare bums its great.

Stayed here for two night whilst in Amsterdam. The location is great for visiting all those touristy areas and I felt relatively safe walking at night. As with many houses/buildings in Amsterdam the buildings are narrow and tall, which means lots of stairs (potentially an obstacle for anyone who has a heavy suitcase. The staff are super friendly and helpful. One big down side for me was the lack of power outlets in the dorm... only one outlet for 10 bed dorm. Yes, there are power outlets in the locker area, which are located outside the dorm and probably not installed for the purpose of charging electronics. The only places would be the small table with six seats in the reception or the bar/restaurant, too bad if there's a function there that night (there was one of the nights). Just saying... it was inconvenient. It's only one metro station away from Amsterdam Central, and the metro station is not too far from the hostel.

Awesome location. Rooms are okay - just the usual bunk bed type stuff. Bathroom was average - not especially dirty or clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful - with lots of information handouts available. If you just are looking for cheap accommodation for back packing or something similar then this is as good a place as any to stay.

As long as you don't have grand expectations going into this, you will be fine.
The staff were pleasant and the rooms in a satisfactory condition. We visited for 5 nights from Tuesday to Sunday and you can definitely tell when the weekend hits because the hostel fills up with typical hostel types - so watch out for that if loud room mates are not your thing.
The breakfast was enough to get you started with your day.
The best thing about this hostel is probably the location. It's walking distance to all the major destinations (including centraal station which is a very walkable distance, as well as the Red Light District, Dam Square etc.).

Not the nicest hostel, but plenty clean and an absolutely perfect location. Walking distance from the Red Light District, Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank House, and pretty much any attraction you would visit for a weekend in Amsterdam.
