Booked this hotel a month before travelling, having been tempted by the fact that rooms are 'soundproofed' and location is central. The hotel only lived up to the latter of these claims.
We arrived at 5pm on Friday 21st April to celebrate a birthday the following day and were allocated a room on the 4th floor, facing the side-street, just off Dam Square - good sized, with a nice bathroom and two single beds, one pillow each. I'd asked for a quiet room, with king sized bed and a view if possible - my priorities were in that order. We got lovely views of the rooftops. But what none of the reviews mention was the carnival/funfair on Dam Square. It's impossible to escape the noise until it stopped at 11:30pm on the Friday night and then again at midnight on Saturday. But below the hotel room is a sidestreet with a Burger King which opens late and must be used as a spot for night-revellers to get a feed. So there was lots of screaming and shouting all night - so on the Friday night we got little or no sleep - it's hard for the hotel to claim the rooms are soundproofed when streetnoise permeates the windows (they might as well have been open all night).
The breakfast was not included, but we tried it on the final morning. Arriving 30 mintues before breakfast ceased there was no scambled egg left, the bacon and beans were dried and unappealing so we went for cereals, juice, tea and toast. €34 euros for two people was a rip off. Go out to the many cafés surrounding the hotel for a cheaper alternative (and a better selection).
Having paid €500 for two nights, one of which we barely slept, put a dampener on the birthday celebrations - we were simply exhausted. Not recommended for any light sleepers, or those on trans-Atlantic flights. Unless you pack ear-plugs or sleeping tablets.
