We stayed here for four nights just after new year. The hotel was very centrally located, with Amsterdam being very easy to get around, even by walking. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. On checking in we were informed that we had been upgraded to the business suite. We had previously decided not to pay the extra for the upgrade as from what we could see, the only differences were room size and a coffee machine. We never saw the standard rooms on our trip.

The room was fantastic, very big with an amazing bathroom. Great toiletries, very warm and powerful shower, quick to run bath and large space.

Great views from our room of dam square, very easy to use heating system, complimentary half bottle of wine and toblerones, as well as mini toblerones on the pillow every night.
We took a room service breakfast which was absolutely delicious, delivered on time and more than I could possibly manage. I do reccomend putting your do not disturb sign on the door untill you are ready to get up as the maid repeatedly rang our door until we did one morning.

The downsides, overall it was all very clean but the cushions and throw which we found in a cupboard were definitely not and clearly are not cleaned for long periods of time, we just didn't use them. We were on the first floor right above the reception and this may have been the main downside, we heard a lot of noise at night untill the trams stopped and there was a busker on the saturday night. I still slept well, so assuming you are not bothered about early nights then this shouldn't be a problem. Alternatively, ask for a higher up room which may be quieter or one atthe back which will lack the nice views.

Overall, its great value for money, great rooms, great location, great staff. Highly recommended.

Very good location and not too expensive, but the hotel itself was not impressive. The room was shabby and reeked of cigarette smoke. It was also quite noisy. Room service was mediocre. The phones in my room also didn't work, but to be fair this was likely an isolated incident. Hotel staff were helpful and courteous. Overall a disappointing experience. I will give it a second chance the next time I visit.

We stayed at the Swissotel 2 nights, Mar 8-10. It was in a great location and we walked from the train station to the hotel for check in. The rooms were very well appointed and the service was good as well. It is a little pricey, but then again I noticed that most hotels were with similar amenities. Unfortunately for us the weather was terrible. It rained and was very windy! We we walked in the bad weather and got soaked, but I can see where this would be a fabulous city in the spring/summer! Despite all this we had a fabulous time and Swissotel was very accommodating and we certainly would stay there again!

The hotel LOCATION @ Dam Square is simple the best you can have ... in middle of Amsterdam (you can stroll freely even into red light district at night if you want, as it is walking distance far from the hotel), besides there are cable car stops just off the hotel entrance for all museums and parks....

The Swiss Hotel certainly knows how to treat their customers making they feel very special!
From checking-in to checking-out everything was perfect, and the customer service was very special, paying attention for every detail....

* the unexpected room upgrade!
* the Nespresso machine in the room, just for us!
* the complimentary wine, chocolate and bathrobe...
* the cleanliness of the room, spotless!
* the roomservice was so quick that surprised us...
* the hotel manager call us on the room just to welcome us and to check if everything was in order
* two weeks after our stay the Swiss Hotel staff call us home (in Brazil) to make a survey (interview)... they would like to know where they can improve, and this is a HARD question, because I thinks they are very close to PERFECION!
