I can't believe nobody has mentioned the noise in this area of Amsterdam!
We certainly had no complaints about the hotel itself except the breakfast room is tiny. Staff are very friendly and helpful, we even had a call from the manager to say a room facing the canal had become available if we wanted to move but we had asked for a quiet room at the back so decided to stay there.
Just over the road near the Ann Frank house is the oldest church in Amsterdam and it makes it's presence known every 15 minutes by ringing it's bells as if there is some sort of royal wedding taking place, then chimes out the time! this goes on all day and right through the night so if you are lucky, you can grab 10 minutes sleep before it kicks off again!
A nice hotel, lovely city and our break completely spoiled by lack of sleep.
