I stayed at the Nadia for a week (May - June 2007), in a double room with street-side balcony.
GOOD POINTS:
EMPLOYEES - Very courteous, always willing to help, including ordering food, giving directions, or anything that will make your stay more enjoyable. Absolutely professional and friendly!
LOCATION - The hotel is only a 15 minute walk (5 minutes by bike) from the Red Light District, a 5 minute walk from the Anne Frank House. Major tram stop is less than 5 minutes away.
SECURITY - Everyone who enters the building must be buzzed in by the front desk, and they have cameras all over the hotel. So no riff-raff hanging around inside, like some of the seedier hostels!
BAD POINTS
BREAKFAST - Left something to be desired...croissants, juice and coffee is about all you get. Also, breakfast is only served until 1030...if you party late and then sleep in, you'll probably miss it altogether.
ROOM SIZE - The pictures on the website are misleading, as they shot them with a wide-angle camera...they are TINY! Not to be graphic, but if you are on the toilet with the bathroom door closed, your knees are hitting the door! I understand that tiny rooms are the norm in Amsterdam, but you will still be shocked when you see it!
VISITORS - I'd like to see the "no visitors rule" softened...if you want someone to visit you in your room, they have to be a paying hotel customer to enter!
