“Loved it!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2010

Don't let the front door or the stairs startle you. They simply add to the wonderful, unique charm of the Hotel Nadia. It's easily accessible from the airport via the hotel shuttle. The staff is extremely helpful (carrying luggage) and are among the friendliest we've met any where in the world. Although the rooms are small, there is plenty of storage. It's location couldn't be any better-close to the Anne Frank House, Dam Square and many other delightful Amsterdam attractions. When, not if, when we revisit Amsterdam, our first choice will absolutely be the Hotel Nadia!

OK, so Hotel Nadia is not the hotel you'll be bragging on about with your friends. It's not anything that I'd recommend in my home country (Sweden), and the stairs (as mentioned in almost all reviews) are a challenge (any person with leg problems or being up in the ages should seriously consider this before booking). Also, it's not the most quiet hotel since sound isolation doesn't work that good...

But apart from that? Nice staff (especially the young girl in the reception), decent breakfast, very central and with a great price. And with great price I mean great price for central Amsterdam. If that price would have been in for example Stockholm, and for that hotel, I'd not have believed my eyes. But this was it, and maybe it was due to the fact that we traveled during the worst of the volcano crisis in April in Europe.
Rooms are tiny, yes, but as long as you're OK with not having a big bathroom and bumping into your room mate once in a while, it works.

We didn't encounter any bed bugs, and the shower was actually having a cabinet, so no water on the toilet or "standing in the toilet" like other reviews. As for sleep quality, church bells kinda messed that up a bit, but just a bit.

In general, would I recommend it? Definitely.

A tip; there seems to be a dozen other hotels like Hotel Nadia on the same street, located very close to Hotel Nadia. If Nadia is fully booked, Google Map it and check out the other hotels on the same street nearby. I have no idea about their quality, but on the outside they looked to be the same as Hotel Nadia.

We fell in love with Hotel Nadia from the moment we walked up the winding, European style staircase and were greeted with warm smiles, helpful staff and a delicious assortment of treats for breakfasts. The manager, Ossam, was incredibly generous, helpful and has the best interests of his clients in mind. We had a room overlooking the canal with a breathtaking view of the Westerkirk Church Tower. We were greeted with a vase of fresh flowers that was a delightful surprise. Although the room might be considered small by some, my 15 yr old daughter and I thought is was totally charming and had exactly the European feel we were looking for. We loved the breakfast room and looked forward to our cup of coffee with croissants, nutella, fresh yogurt, butter cake and more overlooking the canal. Staff was very friendly and helpful. If you make an effort to be friendly, they will return the favor in spades. LOCATION couldn't be more perfect. The Jordaan district is far and away the most charming of all. We highly recommend taking a couple of hours to walk through the Jordaan. The tram is a block away. And the Anne Frank House is two blocks away. The best fresh herring is right in front of the Westerkirk Church. Highly recommend trying it. When we return to Amsterdam, we'll definitely stay at Hotel Nadia. We loved it!!

Hotel Nadia is a lovely place with lots of charcter and a perfect location. The rooms are basic. We stayed in a triple that was on the small side but it had everything we needed. The breakfast of crossiant with nutella was a great start to each day. Be sure to get a pancake at Saras downstairs!

Just returned from Amsterdam and had the pleasure of spending the night at the Hotel Nadia. We arrived at 10AM and the staff was very helpful and allowed us to store our luggage with them before our room was ready. The Hotel's location is very convenient to many attractions. We took a nice walk along the canals to the Van Gogh museum and then strolled to Dam Square and the Anne Frank House. We took a canal boat ride that started across the street from the train station. In the evening it was a 10-15 minute walk to the red light district-which was crowded for a Sunday night. The wireless internet worked fine in the room and there is no extra charge. It was a little chilly out and took a while to figure out how to turn the heat on but it worked. The bed was comfortable and the shower worked fine in the AM. Plenty of hot water and great water pressure. The breakfast area was very nice with a good amount of seating. They have a good selection of breads, jams, cheese and other breakfast items. We did not leave hungry. I would definitely stay at the Hotel Nadia again and highly recommend it. The hotel offers great value for their price point with a very helpful staff.

We stayed at Nadia for a week with our daughter during spring break. Having traveled in Europe, we understand steep narrow stairs and small room sizes, are par for the course in Amsterdam. The staff was very accomodating and welcoming. We had triple room No. 6, overlooking canal. All rooms have private bathrooms. Bed linen and towels were crisp and clean. You have a choice of housekeeping each day, or not (we had them change our bed a couple of times during our weeklong stay). Breakfast included in price is filling and good; croissants, bread, rolls, cheese, spreads, excellent coffee, tea, juice (no meat or eggs). Our room was halfway the stairs leading to the reception, so that was very nice. Staff helps with luggage as needed. The hotel was not noisy, the Westerkekr across the street chimes on quarter hour with it's carrilon, but it's not intrusive. You hear some traffic, but again not loud more like background. It was cold during our stay and the room stayed nice and warm thanks to the radiators. Other amenities include small fridge, safe, hair dryer, color TV. Body wash/shampoo was also provided. A beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers was waiting for us in our room as we checked in. It was mostly couples and families staying at the hotel.
Nearby restaurants we tried and would recommend: Sara's Pancakes (very friendly and tasty), Il Panorama Utrecht (corner of Raadhuisstraat & Herengracht, good menu variety, friendly service & prices), Koh-i-Noor (Indian, very nice decor and good service) and Small Talk Cafe (by Van Gogh Museum, with additional seating upstairs, great daily specials). There is Albert Heijn supermarket nearby which also has a great selection for picnics and snacks.
Overall, we had a very good experience with hotel Nadia and would stay there again.
