“Pleasant hotel, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2009

My wife, 18-year-old son, and I stayed at the Hotel Nadia in May during a trip to see our older son who was studying in Paris. We wanted a couple of days in Amsterdam. This is a unique hotel with a lot of character. The room was clean and comfortable, although the one we had was just over the street and there was a _lot_ of street noise (and a church bell gonged all night nearby). We were tired enough that it didn't matter, but ask for a rear-facing room if you're concerned about noise. The location was great, and the breakfast room was small but delightful, with lots of choices of continental breakfast fare. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

This hotel is very clean and doesn't pretend to be anything it's not but be warned this hotel is not for anyone who doesn't want to climb stairs!! Our room was up 4 flights of some of the tiniest and steepest stairs I have ever seen. The stairs are typical for canal houses in Amsterdam so you truly get to experience something authentic! We didn't need to haul our luggage up or down the staff takes care of that. They were very friendly and the breakfast while basic was satisfactory. Also be warned the rooms are tiny - our room for three including the bathroom was probably the size of a typical bedroom in North America. However the location was great and it's 2 blocks away from the Anne Frank house and you can walk to pretty much anywhere in Amsterdam from this location.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights for our last stop of our honeymoon. Our room was clean and had great views. We were on the top floor w/ views on 2 sides w/ a balcony. Yes, the stairs are rough but we are young and they bring your bags up and down for you. They also offer you a beverage when you arrive and we also had a vase w/ beautiful flowers waiting in our room. The hotel is located very close to the Anne Frank house in a more quiet area of the city. The price is great w/ breakfast and great service. We would stay here again for sure!

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Nadia. We thought the location was excellent for what we wanted, just about half way between Dam Square and The Leidseplein.

The room was small, but clean, and the bed extremely comfortable - a big plus in hotels generally. We also found the staff very friendly aand helpful.

One major word of warning though. We stayed on the 4th floor, and the stairs (all 73 of them) up to the room were both steep and narrow. Anyone with difficulties in climbing stairs should not even consider staying here.

Other than that, I would happily recomend this hotel to friends and family.

i think its a 2 star hotel. the service is amazing. we booked this hotel when we arrived at amsterdam. it was too good to be true, but it was true. service is great, rooms are okay for 2 star hotel and price was good. free breakfast. had welcome drinks. me and my friend got sick in amsterdam and they even gave us free meds! not in the middle of red light district but a 7 minute walk.

We booked this hotel having looked at other reviews on TripAdvisor. The hotel was much as we had expected it to be. The hotel website makes it very clear that there are a lot of steps to climb, and that rooms are small, and so it was no surprise that this is what we found!

Absolutely fabulous location 5 minutes from Dam Square, 2 minutes to Anne frank's house, and, importantly for us, away from the tack and tat of the Damrak and neighbouring streets. The hotel itself was nice and quiet, though if you're a light sleeper you may be troubled by the noise from the trams outside (we brought earplugs and found they worked wonders)

Our room was immaculately clean, with fresh (though quite small) towels, tea and coffee, satellite TV, a little balcony overlooking the canal and fresh flowers to greet us. The room is SMALL- think of a small room, then make it smaller- (I don't think I have ever stayed in a hotel room before where you can kick the bathroom door shut with your foot without having to leave the bed.) We though it was really cute- quite like a cabin in a boat. As you might expect, the double bed was also small, so you might find it a squash if you're used to a King.

Breakfast was croissants, bread, jam, coffee and juice, which was more than adequate for us. If you are breakfasting at peak times (10ish), you may have to wait a few minutes to get a table.

The staff were excellent- I am allergic to feather pillows, and the staff immediately were able to exchange them for cotton ones; they booked us dinner reservations; carried our luggage to our room, and let us store our luggage at the hotel after check-out on our final day.

Price wise, I've paid less for similar hotels in the past, but Amsterdam accommodation does cost more than average. Overall, for a couple who are used to staying in private rooms in hostels, we thought it was great.
