I really loved this hotel. It's pretty basic but this is more than made up for by the fantastic service and incredibley homely atmosphere the owners and staff provide. When we arrived, we had been up since 3am as we had caught the early morning flight from liverpool. It was freezing cold, sleety and windy when we arrived in amsterdam but the welcome we received at the Nadia really cheered us all up. Once we had navigated the notorious stairs (we left our bags in the ahll and the staff brought them up for us - thank God!)we were warmly welcomed at reception. We were there before our rooms were ready so the owner sat us in the breakfast room with a pile of brochures and booklets and kept our mugs of free coffee full until our rooms were ready.
The rooms are tiny but so well laid out that they have everything you need and more. The rooms even have fridges which I know from staying in Amsterdam several times before is very rare, expecially for a 3*. The location is good, right by the Anne Frank museum on Prinsengracht and only a few minutes walk from Dam Square. Also, our favourite coffeeshop (La Tertulia) is just around the corner so this is another bonus!
Breakfast is simple continental style - croissants, pastries, fruit, ham, cheese, toast, jam etc. with lots of fruit juice and cosntant refills of freshly made coffee from (I think) the owner's wife, who is really friendly and funny.
I've read other reviews on here complaining about the room size and I imagine if you want to sit around all day in a big spacious 5* hotel for your visit, then you will be disappointed with the Nadia. If, like us, however you just want a base to sleep and eat breakfast with great, warm, friendly service, I highly recommend the Nadia. I'm already planning my next trip!
