Our party of three stayed in the Hotel Nadia in June 2005. We booked a double room and a single for four nights.
This hotel is in a central location, easy to locate (just around the corner from Dam Square) and is about a 15 minute walk from the Central Railway Station.
This hotel has some good points and some bad points.
As with most hotels in Amsterdam, the staircase is quite steep. When you enter the hotel, there are 35 stairs to climb to the reception area. We were given a complimentary drink when we arrived. We warmly welcomed and checked in.
The double room (which was actually two single beds pushed together) appeared to be clean and tidy. There was a fridge, tea and coffee facilities (which were not replenished as they were used), a desk with 2 chairs, a TV with 4 channels (not cable as advertised) and a VERY compact bathroom. The bathroom in our double room was actually a shower room with a toilet and a basin in it. The bathroom did omit an odour (an unpleasant sewer smell which could sometimes be smelt in the room).
The single room had a queen size double bed (small double) which sppeared to be clean and tidy. There was a fridge, a desk with 1 chair, a TV with satelite/cable channels. There was no tea/coffee making facilities. There was an ample sized bathroom with a separate shower.
Both of these rooms faced the front of the hotel, and therefore noise from trams and buses from the street could be heard at night which sometimes made it difficult to sleep.
A breakfast consisting of croissants bread, cheese, marble cake, selection of jams and honey, tea and coffee and fresh orange juice which is served between 8am - 11am in the cosy breakfast room.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Nadia. My only complaint was the alkward bathroom (which sometimes smelt). The absence of cable TV in our room didn't bother us because we came to enjoy the city, not watch TV. As many other people on Tripadvisor have said, the hotel is small as most Amsterdam hotels tend to be, but lets face it, if you see your hotel room as someplace clean to sleep and wash, it isnt a problem. If you want a larger room, then look for a 3/4 star hotel.
