You may see reviews, commenting on the size of the rooms or the stairs. If you stay in any old property in Dam, the stairs are all the same, narrow and steep, think of the exercise. After the initial shock, you get used to it, think of it as some exercise ! OK the rooms are not massive but hey you only really want somewhere to sleep as there is so much to do in Dam.
We love this hotel, the rooms are clean, the staff are really friendly and remember you from previous visits, how often do you get that ? Two years ago, flowers were left in our room as it was my partners birthday ! This year we had flowers and a 'welcome home' note, which was so nice. The staff give you all the information on Dam you need if you have never been before.
The hotel location is brilliant only a few mins walk to Dam Square. Anne Frank's house is just round the corner and there is a yummy pancake house on the street outside, which is highly recommended too. The hotel is quiet at night and it is so worth having a room with a balcony to sit on in the evenings before you go out.
You can reach the hotel by foot from Central Station, it only takes about 8 mins.
On another note, we have stayed in various rooms and all the beds have been really comfy.
So please don't complain about the rooms or the stairs, this is typical for Amsterdam ! I will definately be going back to this hotel again. Good value for money (would be better if the £ to € was a bit better, but that's not the hotel's fault :-) )
And on another completely random note, my boyfriend proposed to me this trip, so for me this hotel will always be special.
