Took the shuttle bus from the airport (go to information desk at the airport for details) which was very reasonable at €21 return as opposed to approx €50 each way in a taxi!
Upon arrival i was a little bit disappointed as the outside of the hotel looked dingy (but then again, dont a lot of hotels in Amsterdam look like that?!!). We gained access to the hotel via a buzzer which allowed us step into the hall and oh my god...what a sight!!! There were 2 flights of stairs which were quite high and very steep...we compared it to going up a ladder lol. However we were told to leave our bags there and to proceed to the reception area (at the top of these 2 flights).
We were greeted by the owner who offered us some free soft drinks from the fridge in reception (this offer was made each time we returned to the hotel). Our room was then up 2 more steep flights of stairs and also at the front of the building. The owner told us that we could change rooms if we weren't happy. As the trams run most of the night it was quite noisy but we decided to stay as we were only there for 2 nights and just couldnt be bothered with the hassle.
Breakfast was a substantial continental breakfast although the breakfast room was quite small and somewhat cramped.
The Nadia was a cheap hotel so it's the usual 'you get what you pay for'! If you're anyway incapacitated dont dream of going here. If you're unfit like me and my partner go for the exercise lol!
It's in a great location on the street at the back of the Royal Palace which is just a 3 minute walk from Dam Square.
We would go back again coz we're not that fussy, it was ideal location, it was cheap and the staff were very friendly
